I work in large and beautiful high school that’s considered one of the most historic in Florida. (If you’re from Miami-Dade County you’ll know which one I’m talking about). Well anyway, I am always on the lookout for tossed items that I can bring to school to decorate any one of our 4 beautiful inner courtyards. On my way to work this morning, about a block down the street from my house, I pass a large decorative vase and lantern thing. Even though it was raining, I decided to check it out, so I backed the truck. As I begin to look over the lantern, I IMMEDIATLEY notice a semi-hidden scoop lying on the asphalt in the trash pile right next to it! :dingding: UNBELIEVABLE!!! It's in perfect shape! :kingdances: It looks like one of Chuck’s designs so I’m hoping that it is. What’s funny is that I wanted to get a back-up beach scoop and set one up with my carbon fiber travel handle that I got from Steve in Asia years ago. Sanford & Son got nothing on me! It seems one man's trash is definitely my treasure!!

Could it be ? Yup !!! That's Earl's scoop and he is creeping down on your territory. He finally decided to hunt and take his own eye candy pictures. Felix , please be careful. You now have a documented , banana hammock wearing stalker....Minus 1 scoop.

Awesome find. You never know what people will throw out.Keep looking when you go by there.Next weeks trash could be the detector.

 :rofl: That explains Ear's incessant obsession with thongs!

I'm in the market for a PI let's see what I can do! ;)

Still have one of those. Main problem is getting stuff behind the shaft, 90 degree made me dunk my head under water to use it. Plus in Florida sand water hunting you'll dig about 30 scoops to get to a deep target. And you are gonna be posting some wrecked Ray Ban eye candy when that scoop tears them a new one. That Jug planter has FB market place $ written all over it. Nice score Felix. Thought this post was going to be some concrete Felix Penny pavers thrown out though.

Question: My 1st scoop was a non-Chuck, 90 degree scoop that was as heavy as a tank. I sold it locally when I moved on to my current Chuck-built 720. Are there any advantages to a 90 degree design? Like maybe wet sand?

Exactly... I won a Sunspot 90 degree scoop Chuck donated to a metal detecting group in Rhode Island they had a hunt at Ocean Beach in New London CT that I went to many moons ago... I believe the name of the club was D.I.R.T I think they are defunct now... anyway I hated that scoop, sold it to a friend who still owns in and uses it all these years since then... This was them: http://ritreasure.com/

That looks a lot like my scoop! I took off the back piece to make it lighter. It's really heavy with the wood handle though. Thinking about buying something a bit lighter. Still a great scoop...nice and wide!

Yes , it is a CHUCK made scoop , called CLASSIC , I have 1- only I bolted on a larger foot pad to the smaller foot pad , on all three including 3 special 20 degree bends in the handle , the other two similar- are the Sugar Sand scoops , Chuck used my idea developing the Sugar Sand , now sauté after -Yellow Handle scoops in picture, Felix those artifact's I would put in my house , real nice find Felix Congrats well done :dingding:

In my opinion no. Mine was the exact one you found. Bought it from my friend who hated it for $25. Found out I hated it and cut it up. Your style hunting you may like it though? Mines currently leaning against my shed out back. It's a real heavy scoop for as small as it is. Won't break the scoop head. But your shoulder is going to be trashed like mine toting those cinderblock weight scoops. To go deep in the hole you have to lean over. Not an easy task if you hunt chest deep. Also hard throwing the scoop head to deal with adjusting where it winds up under water in a current. In wet sand the light scoops you can pendulum kick it where the wet sand flies out. That one you'll crap yourself during the kick.

That's a find and then some! Better visit that site every day to see what else they toss. May be a new detector in the near future for you.
