4 silvers including my 1st *B*E*N*J*I*

 Especially on the Franklin.

There might be a datecode on the bottom of the 7-Up bottle, depending on who the maker was. Usually to the right of the makers mark. A number with (possibly) a period near it.

Thank you Glasshooper! Best I can make out the bottom says:

20 <O> 47
9-C
Duraglass
7830-C

There’s an I or T in that trademark circle - bottle says Sacramento and Stockton on it. I thought it would be 1942-45 because no red, but guess it’s 1947. Too bad not whole, but I think I’ll keep it for now.

Nice Post

Great pictures and story. One month a few years back, I dug three Ben's, but I haven't seen a half dollar in over a year now. I remember my first Benjamine, like it was yesterday. Such a cool find. And those other cool finds, what a unforgettable day. Congrats.

Whoa 3! That would be memorable! Thanks man!

Very nice, I love those pictures. Something in your soil makes the silver very dark. Way to go!!

Me thinks it is an organic rich soil, and without access to air became a reducing sulfur rich environment, thus blackening the silver. As far as the finds, KT is speechless, having only recovered one rosie, a 1964, in His Royal Time of MDing. Absolutely amazing!

10-4 That mark is Owens-Illinois glass co. and yes it is 1947. The orange paint they used in the label design does not hold up well in the wild and is the first to wear off.

Congratulations on your first Franklin half, as well as the other three silvers and the wheat cent. Fantastic coin take! The marble is cool, too.

Nice finds but I wouldn't have rubbed the dirt off as it would put small scratches on the surface and if it was a key date would devalue it significantly.

Thank you Princess! The marble was just too cool to happen to eyeball!

Thank you and I hear ya, but when I’m out in the field I guess I just want to know what I have and I’m keeping my finds, so... not going to baby  I wonder how many dug coins someone rubbed and degraded it enough to lower any environmentally damaged coin value...
