1780s half reale

Very well done Tom .
Spanish silver is still on my bucket list .
I did check off a bucket lister braided hair (wisconsin) large cent just yesterday .
But ya .... east of the Mississippi reporting in .lol
Congratulations on the sweet sweet Spanish.,

Did it again Tom! Congrats.
Keep scanning that site!

Congrats Tom, that is a "reale" neat find !

.....as far as "a dime a dozen" hey, I'd pay a dollar for a dozen

:dingding: THAT gets a dinger from me! :wow:

Very nice!

You sure know how/where to find the good stuff Tom, Big Congrats on the half reale!

hippy, Gary, felix-cat, and bluebird : Thanx for joining me on my hunt !

It's not in a "downtown" area. More out in the "boonies". Its got dirt , grass , a little iron and oddly...what appears to be pottery or broken clay tiles.

Aaahhh, I would love to compare notes with this person :) I'm gonna have to step-up my southern CA "boonies" excursions. Can't have you So . CA guys "beating me to the draw"

But don't ya know, that's not a fair comparison. Since LC's are in every sand-box there. Then there's no strategy or skill involved. Sorry. :sissyfight:

[emoji848] wonder if Tom would take me hunting while I’m out there this summer. That way I could bring some of that west coast treasure to the other side of the Mississippi. [emoji1]

Where are you coming to, in CA this summer ? My area is an hour-or-so south of San Jose.

Can't gaurantee that I can take you to spots that have potential for reales. But .... am game to show you some other types spots, if you just want to dink around some place.

lol STINGY! you know us east coasters would take you out anyday in spots prime for largies.... yet you won't share those "back pocket sites" with us!

haha, but here's the difference :

Yes I understand that you east coasters would indeed practice hospitality, and take a "poor beleaguered west coaster" to a spot where he's likely to find an LC. I grant you that. Heck, I was the recipient of one such east-coast invite hunt. My hats off to you guys !

But the difference is: That LC's there exist ALL OVER THE PLACE. Thus ... sure, you can point in any direction , float an invitation, and ... sure.... we're likely to find an LC.

But here on the west coast, the situation is different. These reales are NOT "overflowing out of every sandbox " :( Therefore we have to be a bit stingy :(

Shhh your giving away my secrete! I worked REALLY hard for those largies and I'm sticking to it!

East coast hunter :"hey guys I found something good! Oh wait. It's just another Reale. Sorry."
