wow, what a post SSC. I got the "100 to 200 per each gold ring", by long-time observations of lots of So. CA beach hunter tallies. That's also about the average for Santa Cruz main up our way, which mimic's so. CA look & feel & traffic/usage. No, I have not hunted Montage or Aliso. I assumed them to be akin to other So. CA beaches. But you'll see I noted that the averages depend on the touristy-ness, versus local/industrial-ness.
As for the rest of what you said, wow. No, no one got burned. I tried and tried to reach him, and ... unknowingly had only his work contact info (of which he was not to check those in-boxes till over a day later). I know you ... uh .... Mean well ....... but you may want to ... uh ... check the tone of your post.
The Touristy-ness??? What the heck is that?? Those beaches mentioned in this post for So Cal are empty compared to others. Half of that beach you can't swim, too rough, too steep. Now you want to back peddle, so I am now calling you on it. You burned Raider, I remember. Whose tallies??? Seriously. I may not post any of my finds recently, partially because I have been under the weather. But I have never put a post up about what I found and then was a long wait. Now you are giving advise about a beach you know nothing about. I am no rookie at this game, So why did he not find anything? I was at that beach twice, before anyone posted anything. I did real well. Tell me then why??? He used a CTX, I used an old machine. An antique by many.
So why don't we take Huntington Beach. It gets lots of tourists, fisherman, and has a dog beach. So with your thinking, the dog beach is a poor hunting area? Yes or no? Check my tone? Really, you come off as this grand master. You have stated when there is erosion that a person should use a certain type of machine. Really? As for the last couple weeks I will put my finds against anyone, not just for numbers, but value. But I am waiting till I have drained the spots, and I am not in some competition saying look at me. I do it for reasons you probably would not understand. I went back and checked your posts, you do seem to like to stir the pot. So now I am asking you straight up, why did the person not find anything? Why? I was down there today and found targets. So what was the difference? You use the generalization other So cal beaches. Which ones? State them? Exactly which beaches are you comparing to? Please don't PM me, put it all here in black and white. It would be like me giving advise to Dew, Craig, Itsa, or even you on particulars on exact beaches in their area. You get into this detail, but then it gets cloudy, and becomes "well I really did not say it that way." But for you Tom I will post every find when the beaches peter out.
Hi Tom,
I would say your ratio estimate is pretty accurate for me at least. I really had my hopes up as the conditions were so much better for success yesterday. And weird little or no silver. I did have some pennies sound off outside of my set ignore range and dug a few just to check.
SSC,
As you seem to know the area, would you now advise trying south in some of the less popular beaches? Even at Main Beach Laguna or CDM I've come across old silver in the past. Looking for bling or cool looking mercury's or buffalos. Love the CTX but wish it was lighter.
I will put it to you this way, you have a couple posts, this is a public forum, if you think that it is not trolled, you are crazy. I have been hunting in So Cal for many years, but you want places, names, and what to do? Honestly? I spent years figuring out this area, my time, my effort, my thinking and saying what is going on when there were cuts, troughs, ripples, even shells and rocks, but nothing. There are areas that have been poor for a while now. It is not from other hunters, most I have no concern about them. If someone I knew from lets say FL or CT, was coming out. I would go out and check the beaches, check my journals, and try my hardest to get them on ground. Even loan them my machines if need be. But 2 posts and you wanting places. Can't do it, I am not burning spots that took me too darn long to really understand. If I am coming off as an jerk, I dont mean to be. If the roles were reversed, I believe you would agree. I try to give solid info if I can, not push the newest machine or tool. But what is good for the area. But when you start stating beaches, you are only hurting yourself. Someone that is good, really good, will clean it out. Thankfully in So Cal there are only a couple I know of, and so far no one has figured out who I am, and I am hoping to keep it that way.
