The problem is most people buying these $1600 metal detectors are hoping they'll magically find the good stuff with it. Just because it might find more targets (big might there) in heavy iron doesn't mean squat if there's nothing hiding in those iron infested spots in the first place.
I've done quite a few celler holes in my time and NONE ever produced a significant amount of coins or even one bucket list coin. My AT Pro detects all the tiny brass flat buttons in heavy iron, so I'm not missing the coins. Most times, there's just no coins in or around cellar holes.
Bottom line, just because you think you're missing the good stuff in heavy iron doesn't mean you are missing anything. You'll find out the first time you take the Deus II to you favorite spot. Odds are, you'll find jack squat in those iron infested places.
How would you know you are not missing coins with your detector in thicker iron? ? Are you psychic?
Btw, I haven’t seen anyone on this forum saying a certain detector model makes or generates coins. Would be nice though. Have a detector that makes silver coins.
Lot of possible scenarios out there when it comes to coin and nails configurations.
Tell you what.
I could actually set up a nail(s) and a coin on a mounted device. And bury. And guess what. Your At pro won’t give nonferrous tone on the coin. Even with me showing you where I buried it. And I can take a Deus 1 and swing over and presto! No joke.
Question is where is such a scenario or very similar scenarios in iron ridden site?
It goes like this.
The more nails in a site means more odds of more scenarios where one model detector gets outfoxed. But it don’t take an iron or nail ridden area for this scenario to exist. They do exist out there scattered throughout the world.
More info here. All true.
A site that dates back to the mid 1700s just down the road from me. On river.
Gent lives down there hunted this site loads with White’s XLT for over 8 years. He found some good stuff too.
I started metal detecting in Dec 2010. And this site is where I went.
I hunted with White’s V3i. Then little later bought Minelab Etrac, then a Minelab CTX. Then a Deus 1. All detectors made finds. Deus 1 made the most. I used Deus 1 with low freq coils in this site for quite a while. Then I bought Hf coils for Deus 1, and even made some more finds. There are landmarks in this site. Trees bigger and a cemetery nearer one of the areas that seems to produce.
Anyways there was one smaller site I had busted hard with Deus 1 and LF coils.
When I got my Eqx 800 I took it there and made quite a few finds. Surprising actually to me. So much so I started doing head to heads using Deus 1 LF coils and even Hf coils. It became apparent quickly Eqx was seeing nonferrous things like buttons the Deus and LF coils couldn’t. Now heads to head done using the Eqx and Deus 1 Hf coils was more hit and miss As far as Deus 1 with Hf coils being able to see. What I did notice if Deus 1 using Hf coil wasn’t run in lowest freq band setting it would not allow Deus 1 to see the targets. Going to middle band freq wise upped the odds of it being successful but not on all.
So all detector models are not equals in the iron. I proved it.
Even Deus 1 not the same in department as it depends on whether not it has LF or Hf coil on.
And many VLF detectors operate basically on one freq. a freq generally not high enough to see lot of coins, etc being masked by iron.
Cheers.
