Where's Garrett?

I'm a Garrett fan, I used the AT series pretty much up until the equinox was released. Still use the carrot. Beginner friendly, pretty much turn on and go, interchangeable batteries (only 4 AA to boot), ergonomics are good, and most importantly, FUN TO USE! I know we all miss stuff, but I saw way too many targets be recovered right in front of my own eyes/ears that the Garrett wouldn't make a peep over, no matter what settings I tried. The AT Max was a swing and miss, not really much of a performance leap over the other AT machines to justify the extra money IMO. If they were to make something comparable to the leading models currently (Nox, legend, etc) I'd absolutely take a good hard look. It would be nice to at least have a horse named Garrett in this race though...
This right here is my experience, except I was the one finding targets with my mx sport, and my buddy was struggling with an at pro and another struggling with an at gold. We could not get the garretts to hit the same deep targets the mx sport was was just hammering. We tried every setting combo there was. And this was back when the at max had just released, which I never got a good chance to compare, but from what I read online the max would seemingly had fallen short as well.

Maybe so, but as we all know the detector companies are constantly striving to improve their product lines. I guess I can't see the overhead you speak of, but I also won't say it's there. I know if I was a manufacturer in a very competitive market, I would make sure my R&D department was developing a product that was a reliable game changer that could, or would dominate the detector market for quite a while. But hey! what do I know, I'm just a Hoser.:rofl2:
Why doesn't Garretts create another "tip detection only" pinpointer and cash in on that demand? Lot of people want one. Garretts owns the patent of the TRX after buying Whites? It makes no sense to me that Garretts is laying low on producing new stuff. It is simple business, "If you don't make money after a while, produce something." Otherwise, the overhead cost of keeping the design and engineers are chewing at your bottom line. Something fishy IMO.

The Axiom has nothing to do with any Minelab GPX model other than being pulse induction. It’s not a GPX clone. The Axiom is a very new and very improved Garrett ATX that doesn’t need a harness to swing. It’s expensive because it is mostly for high end gold nugget prospecting. Putting it in the same sentence with the AT Pro is like comparing the price of a good quality high school or college level lab microscope to an electron microscope. They basically both magnify or detect things but the similarities end there.
Yeah, I know.

I wouldn’t write Garrett off so soon. I get the feeling there is something in the works, especially after the Whites purchase. We just have to sit and wait I suppose.

That Whites purchase by Garretts was nearly 3 years ago. How much wait time is enough?

Think of it like a fine wine. The longer it sits, the better it is. IMO, Garrett has always been on the quiet side about new arrivals. Just gotta be patient and wait and see.
Remanufacturing the TRX is a brainless decision. Nearly 3 years, and you hold the patent!

They must have an over stock in the carrot item. Should they go ahead and put out their version of the TRX then you will probably see a crowd of dissatisfied folks that are still holding those old carrot up the shaft pointers and want to trade those in.

They must have had an over stock in the AT-Pro also but technology in Multi-F units ran then down the road, all alone. Selling any new product for money, as a maker has to do that. This is just a nonsense-able way to make money way of it to me as a commercial business.

The Carrot is fine but it ain't a Whites TRX.

I've been a long-time Garret fan and would much rather keep my money in the US if possible. I went through the American TR, the ADS series, and the Freedom series, and still have my ADS 4 hanging in the garage. My first detector MOD was on a Freedon 1. I mounted a multimeter on it and connected it to the motherboard to use as a depth/strength meter. A large number of my jewelry was found with an AT Pro.

same here I would get deep targets with my MXSport (still use it) and my son was not hitting on them. At least for the most part. Should be getting an E900 in shortly and will compare the two. Had a whites M6 before that and did well, I miss whites.

I still maintain the mx sport was one of the most slept on detectors of that era, especially for deep silver coins.

I really liked Whites machines. I also would like to see Garrett make something that would be a step above everyone else. Enough to make them all go back and rethink things. Hopefully that is what is taking time. I don't think they bought whites for nothing. I have a feeling they are going make a big hit at some point. I think that with the release of previous models not doing so well and seeing how unimpressed even the loyalist of Garrett fans were with the camouflage version, it seems that maybe the silence from Garrett is not silence but us getting their attention. I'll give them all the time they need as long as what they come out with is actually something new and NOT Camouflage.

I agree about the TRX. They are missing a big opportunity as is other companies. Garrett could actually own all of this market.

BUT the thing is that Garretts, bought out Whites and has legal rights to the TRX patent. Other companies doesn't, without a legal battle and engineering design costs.

Several companies have released very compelling machines over the last year, yet Garrett has been MIA.

The Apex (Garrett's first MF unit) seems to have fizzled out and the Axiom PI detector, while very capable for a PI detector, is very specific as to its use for gold and cache hunting.

Anyone know if Garrett has something on the horizon?
I purchased an AT Max a few years back. It is almost useless on the beach. So noisy that I can’t use it. I know there is a huge complicated procedure to detune it to quiet it down, but it seems to defeat the purpose. I am thinking of a PI machine. I may be digging everything but it shouldn’t make me crazy.
