Looks like whats left of an old air compressor. Tank, less compressor head and motor.

definitely a water heater. It usually costs a fee to get rid of them, so it was buried instead. It's not a propane tank. Propane tanks have rounded ends due to the hign pressure.

Look around a bit more, might come up with a nosecone. Looks like a late 1800s space ship main body from planet Quabsted, fifth galaxy. Nice find, even though people will try to tell you it's just a hot water tank. ...Gil

I don't know what it is, but it looks like it sure took some digging to get it out. My vote goes to the 1800's vintage spaceship. Although I think it's a bit newer, 1920's probably. I saw Buck Rogers flying in something simular.

True story,
My brother inlaw was breaking ground for a car dealership, and got in the hole to remove somethings that he described to look like that, (This happened on a Friday)well he went home, and next thing he remembers is waking up Sunday on his bathroom floor with a splitting headache, he was out for 2 and a half days. Turns out him and 3 other guys on his crew now suffer from unexplained seizures, they now have a multi-million $ lawsuit, however its been 6 years and the Defendents lawyers keep pushing the dates foward.
I say leave it be and I pray that soil is free of chemicals.
