This is acutally a "re-post", my first since the big crash '08!
I learned a little more about the small park I found these in. It used to be part of the estate of one of our towns founding families. It is now a little, about 40' x 60' x 20' triangular shaped piece of grass with a couple of huge trees in the middle. Nice place for the winos to hang during the day!
I was driving by the other day and I noticed they had scraped all the turf off and were getting ready to re-seed or something. I thought, here's an opportunity not to be passed up! Spent about 2 hours I think and came up with this 1903 "V" Nickel and the 1943 "War" Nickel!!
These are the two oldest coins I have found since getting addicted to this amazing hobby last March!! I have hit this little park a couple of times since, but unfortunatley, only found a few pices of clad and lots of junk, as I dig anything that even has a faint tone or signal! Keep hoping for some old silver otta that palce! But I am very happy with my finds to date!
