Made another trip over Lolo Pass to the Camas Prairie south of Lewiston Idaho, and had a chance to get out to detect for an afternoon, between snow pellets and wind! I ended up with two permissions, one was a 1901 home with nice couple as owners, this yard produced a 1920 Merc Dime and a cool GREEN RIVER WHISKEY / The Whiskey without Regrets advertising coin, along with some older wheat cents from the teens. Not a heck of a lot of coins in this yard but fun to detect, original lawn.

The second permission was at a home that did not look much older than 1940s, but perhaps was remodeled and re-sided as it produced some good finds and old finds. First target was a Silver War Nickel, followed by a steady 83-84 on my AT Pro, and sure enough a Silver Rosie. This yard was starting out great! As I carefully gridded the front yard, I found a "Bull Durham Tobacco" Heads / Tails advertising coin, and a neat Boy Scout coin with Good Luck symbols. Near the home in an area with some rusty roofing nails, I pulled a no date Buffalo Nickel and a 1940s Merc Dime. Another nickel signal in this same area gave me a "V" nickel which I didn't clean up till later, as the soil in this town is black and really sticky. I was delighted to find out that it was the very first Liberty Head nickel minted, 1883, without the "CENTS" marking on the reverse. This was the coin that unscrupulous people would "gold plate" back then and try to pass it off as a $5 Gold Coin. The word "CENTS" was added to the reverse later in 1883. This coin also was found near the house in with some rusty roofing nails and I did scratch the back side...

I was happy with the several hours of detecting and really pleased with my finds. Thank you for your interest!

You’re killing it up there! Love those Green River Whiskey Tokens.

I agree. “Whiskey Without Regrets” What a great slogan!

I've only got one thing to say, "Go home!". I'm in Oregon for a week and at least I had the decency to leave my detector at home. The least you could do is invite me when you hunt in MY state. Yes, I do own the whole state of Idaho, just ask me. BTW, nice hunt.

Hah!:) Where in Idaho are you?

Shiny, I'm in Eagle, but we lived between Coeur d'Alene and St. Maries for 10 years. I've got a friend who lives in Kamiah, he'll be ticked that you were taking his finds. He's not as forgiving as I am. HH

People like that I asked for their "hunted out site" just to go find something there to tick em off

Thank you chillforlife, would be happy to meet up with you sometime! I've thought about Big City Boise and what might be found there. I've tried CDA a few times and gotten a few silvers and wheats, also Spokane with about the same results. Lots of detectorists esp. in Spokane. Have not really tried Kamiah yet, there are some curb strips there and some older homes. Hoping to give Lewiston ID / Clarkston WA a try sometime.

Thanks Tpmetal, I agree, I love to hear "It's been hunted before." and sometimes what was left proved to be really good!
