You got enough small gold chains to take some numbers and pile them together and see what the numbers do? I messed up and melted all my small gold chains when gold when up real high. I do know the 24K gold chains i found seemed to be hitting a little better since they balled up under the sand. A herringbone necklace winds up laying flat since they don't bend easy. But you got to add where i hunt the conductivity of the salt sand on the gold helps. Some small gold once you pop it out of the ground you can no longer hit it with a detector very easy. It's why i have to only test at the beach. Last time out some guy was eyeballing my gold so i quit testing.

Yes, I do. Most of my small link chains read a VDI of 01-02 on my Deus. The numbers don't seem to change even when balled up, that is why I think it is only seeing a single piece. The Figaro bracelet was about 3-4mm links and read the 04. I tried it opened up and balled up. Same numbers.

Found this yesterday at a tot lot of artificial grass. Read 05 on the Deus. Generally, anything that read a 04 in all directions will be a paperclip/bobby pin. If it reads differently like 04 one way and 05 another, it will be anything but a paperclip/bobby pin and worth checking out.

Here shows how it looked in the tot lot when found.
