Thankful for my simple to use AT Pro.

Here's all you need to know about the AT Pro. The cheapest new condition AT Pro on eBay right now is $550.00. The cheapest new condition Deus I on eBay right now is $500.00. The Deus was around 1.6k when it came out five years ago. Guess detectorists figured out that they were paying way too much for too little improvement over mid-priced detectors like the AT Pro!

Deus 1 was released in 2009. AT Pro was released in 2010. A brand new Deus 1 Lite and a brand new Garrett AT Pro cost about the same thing, roughly $600 on eBay or from a dealer.

My Goodness. I read all these threads about detector recovery speed, mineral reactivity, how an iron nail might hide a nickel, what happens when a aluminum tab is near a silver dime, this mode, that mode, Iron Bias, Auto Ground Tracking, Horseshoe button this, sensitivity, EMI issues, masking, what is the best frequency for this and that, what freqs are transmitted / received in various detecting modes, etc etc etc.

I am SO GLAD I can turn on my simple, obsolete AT Pro and go out and find coins, relics and jewelry. With the mineralization about the same in my geographic area, it is turn on and hunt, Pro Zero, Full Sensitivity, nothing Disc'ed out. Oh... and 1300 silvers, 6500 wheat cents, IHPs, Largies, 9 Silver Dollars, 100+ silver rings / jewelry going into my 7th year of detecting with this machine. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I am grateful to have a detector that only needs to be powered up to find good stuff.
Very refreshing to hear someone say positive things about the AT Pro, instead of the usual negative blah, blah, blah.

I have a high mineralization situation where the at pro is great,it is a beach where away from the ocean the sand gets blacker and blacker a Garrettt ground balances around 96 lots of emi multis struggle, with the at pro you can hear shallow targets as they should be but anything even slightly deep the mineralization makes the iron go invisible but non ferous has a bit of a cackle so it's almost always good or aluminum pay no attention to target id.The other advantage of the at pro is bottle caps and tent stakes i don't know of another detector that bottle caps and tent stakes are so obvious .I always wanted to do a test where you put a bunch of targets under a sheet of plywood or blanket and go threw them and call dig or no dig. The dig for me would coins, rings ,pop tops stinkin zincolns the no dig would be bottlecaps tent stakes ,nails screws .Then time your run through no disc like your dry sanding a beach.Test against the latest multis and see which is fastest

Sorry, I meant the XP Deus. When it was released, no one was selling them for list price. I remember seeing them being auctioned off on eBay and selling for up to $1,500 a pop. Now they can't give them away for 500 bucks...

Don;t you feel ashamed depriving the people with their newest detectors with the bells and whistles, of not being able to find the coins and rings that you found? The obsolete AT PRO is a great detector.

Thank you graybeard, I agree, for my type of detecting and geographic area, it keeps up with the best of the machines!
