Hi, I'm new to the forums and metal detecting in general. I just inherited a Teroro Royal Sabre from my cousin, and I was wondering if this detector is any good at finding: rings, and coins in the sand?

I would also appreciate any tips or advise anyone would like to suggets.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Mecacate.

I have never used the Royal Sabre but I know a lot about
Tesoroes. I have five Tesoroes and have owned others.

The Royal Sabre is kind of a unique Tesoro. Some older
Tesoro users sware that the Royial Sabre has the best
notch of any Tesoro. I tend to believe these guys because
they really know what they are talking about.

The Royial Sabre has two tones. The lower tone will be below
the notch, which is cool.

The Royial Sabre also has something that I think no other
Tesoro has. You can tune out surface targets. That can be
neat when trying to hunt where there is a lot of surface
trash that you don't want to mess with.

If you have the patience to learn the Royal, it should be an
excellent jewelry and coin machine in the sand.

But, it may have trouble in wet salt water sand. Most VLF
detectors have problems there.

Happy Huntin,

Yeah, I love my Royal Sabre and am about to send it in (sniff) for a once over and to see if it needs to be matched to the 5.75" coil-my original coil was ruined accidentally.. I wouldn't recommend the surface blanking feature, as I once blanked out a quarter at 1". By just using the primary discrimination, you can rotate the other disc knob and as Tab said, either have two tones, one below and the other above tabs. I however love to rotate it to where the tabs mix the tones and I have basically three tones and tone ID! Then nickels will give a low tone, tabs (most of them) a mixed tone, and coins a high tone. Then, of course is the notch feature which is basically using both disc knobs by switching the two toggles to the on position. What I like about it is that you can go to a very low disc. position on the nickel side and thus get those rings that fall in the foil range. To top all that, there's an ACCEPT only toggle and I found a half dollar in a highly infested trashy park using this feature. Finally, the a/m pinpoint mode is a fast-retune true a/m mode that picks up all metals. It has super fast recovery and about the only failing it has is that it doesn't have the ED-120 discrimination and so the low disc feature is right below the small foil reject. If you leave the primary disc. at it's lowest, you will find the rings.

Tesoro Royal Sabre Info

Thanks very much for the information on the Royal Sabre. I'm looking for a break in the weather so I can go out and "learn" her.

I read somewhere that a 5" coil is good to use in trash, and that a 10" coil will get you down to a respectable depth in areas that don't have a lot of trash.

Any thoughts or comments?

Will the Golden Sabre plus also adjust to give 2 or 3 tones ?
