I miss not having a depth gauge on the Orx. How do other owners handle it? Has anyone developed a "rule of thumb" to help out?

It would seem that if you detect at full sensitivity and get a good tone there might be a way to drop the sensitivity quite a bit and see if the target disappears.

which might help in figuring out a ballpark depth figures. any one have this down to a science?

Well if you hit the pinpoint button and it fills in on a coin sized object the target would be fairly shallow. If it does not fill in hardly it is deeper.

With XP units I got used to it. It took me a little bit but they are so fast it doesn't matter.

Also target tone is a good way to tell too. You will learn that the loudness of the signal will tell you what range the target will be in.

You will get to where it doesn't matter after that.

Ya know I don't know squat about the XP. but it sounds a lot like trying to find the depth of a target with a Tesoro detector. You pinpoint the target and lift the coil till it goes silent and estimate the depth from that distance. I have used it and dang if it don't work.
