A year ago bought my nephew a quesr x5.I was impressed with the quality of this starter machine. Now in March they are coming out with a multi freq machine,Quest V80.Google it for a rundown.I will be checking it out

Quest has come a long way in the last few years.Watch some utube vids on their detectors & pinpointers

I think Quest used to be known as Detectnix a few years back. I still have, and occasionally use, one of their original Xpointer pinpointers.

Yep , it's Made in China , bought a Air Fryer , did research made in the USA , when the delivery driver showed up , dang the box said made in China :(

Just to let you guys know in this post too. I have a YouTube channel where I am pivoting towards different kinds of videos, including Product Reviews on all kinds of different items, not just Metal Detecting and/or Treasure Hunting, we will be doing all kinds of different reviews and different videos in general. That being said, Quest actually has a "Influencer" program and send out units for review and I am currently talking to them about receiving three different units, the $199.99 Queat X10, the $699.99-$799.99 option called the Quest V80 (the $799.99 option is the V80 still but with a bundle) and the third item is the $129.99 Pinpointer.

I have never used any products from Quest, but basically I'm thinking that I will maybe put them head to head with different Detectors, since they are the New Kids of the Block! So I the a good match up for the $199.99 Quest X10 option would pair nicely against the Minelab Vanquish, and the $699.99 Quest V80 option paired against maybe the Minelab Equinox 600? Or maybe against the Garrett AT Pro. I would definitely but open to any kind of suggestions you guys might have?

I will keep you Folks updated.
Thanks,
Rich (Locozilla)

Quest Europe just dropped this Video on the new V80 very informative! The Quest V10 is comparable to the Nokta Simplex - I owned both and preferred the X10 although VDI wasn't great on either one but for <$250 it was very good. The V80 better be as good if not better than the Legend for the price point and very close if not better than the Nox 800. First metal detector to use a gyro sensor which is suppose to aid in better VDI and a no button ground balance feature. (* which is a feature no one needed but still kinda cool and possibly could find further uses down the road)

- Also important my understanding from Quest Europe is that at time of release it will only have 1 HyperQ aka mulit-freq mode. What freq it will be running simultaneously is anyone's guess at this point but I would expect something similar to the Nox or Legend M1 freq 5-14-30khz (as this would make sense to cover your low and high conductors)

Quest is Chinese and not readily available in the U.S.
Also it's not a mainstream company to put it nicely

Well, yes they are available from several dealers / sources in the USA.

"Main stream"? There are a lot of 'dealers' who will order in or have dop-shipped just about any make or model detector they represent. Very few actually 'stock' detectors unless they are something like Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse, Scheels, and so on. And we don't have a lot of so-called 'local' dealers like the good old days. Most seem to deal out of their home or just via the internet, a lot do not have a website, and sadly many do not really know their products of how to set them up or even detect.

I even looked up "main-stream" Minelab Dealers near me by my zip code in Utah, and other than big box stores, most do not have a website. Those I called do not have stock but could order. We just do not have the number sof avid dealer who want to sell and promote detecting and help consumers like we used to. Instead we have few dealers, and Distributors who do not promote products to dealers. Just too many discounters without any after-the-sale service.

Me? I am impressed with the Quest line, especially the X5, X10, X10 Pro, Q30, Q40 and Q60 when compared with all the other competition out there. I am sure that they sill address any bugs in the new V80 and give us an SMF unit that will also satisfy folks. My sons and I might even take on the Quest line because they do work well, are a sturdy design, and very competitive in price.

I am impressed with Quest as well. Especially the X10 Pro. Waterproof to 10 feet and still only $199. My only concern is customer service. I've heard it's questionable in the US.

you are not alone, that is my concern also, I am vary interested in the New V80 and will purchase one when they become available at the end of March, but as you stated repairs if needed or customer service in general is one of my concern's with the Quest detectors

I am on a dealers list to get one, and I also know that dealer will handle any repairs or replacement if needed though

Mind me asking what dealer?

Quest, from what I understand. Is working on a service center.

That said, from the many contacts in other countries I have been told they seldom have a service issue, if not abused. I have never abused any detector I had in well over five decades.

The X10 Pro in the waterproof version of the X10 so in that respect it competes with the Simplex +.

Better still, it comes standard with a 5X9ish coils and not a honking 11" coil. I've heard from quite a few who had or have both, and over 75% prefer their Quest.

And that is a released model. I think the V80 will be well received. Who knows, maybe a few changes before it is released.

Andy and Charlene Sabisch is who I will be getting mine from not sure what the name of their business is though, Andy Sabisch has been testing the Quest V80 with the 11x10 inch coil Andy is also the person that has wrote several books on several different detectors like the Legend, Equinox 600 and 800, simplex plus and several other books on various detectors, Andy has also been testing detectors for different companies for many many years for different manufactures.

Thanks OK.

The more I read about the Quest line of detectors the more I am liking what I am reading, so I am looking forward to trying the V80 out on the ground I detect

as far as service center for the Quest line I am hearing the same as you that they are working on something in the U.S and other countries to have a good service centers available for their customers, we shall see and can only hope for those of us that take the dive on this new SMF detector, I have received a few PMs and emails from Quest personally in fact they reached out to me on Facebook in a PM, and I did voice some of my concerns about service and repairs if needed, from what I am getting from Quest in personal emails and PMs they are definitely trying to accommodate customers request and seem like they are going to be a lot like Nokta in that respect but again it remains to be seen in the end

well since the V80 goes up to 60 KHz in single frequencies but also has 80KHz when in Hyper Q i believe your numbers are totally off as to what it will be running in SMF mode which is the Hyper Q mode from my understanding, the frequencies it will run in the hyper Q mode will at least be something to do with the 80 KHz frequencies and if you look at their promo photos on their site it looks to me like The V80 and V60 will be running 9 different frequencies all at once when Hyper Q mode is active, not sure this is correct but by one of their photos it certainly suggest that, to me, and if this is the case that is going to be quite a feat in my book
