this post has been buried for a while. Lets see some new posters- lets see your detectors .............

That's what I thought...looks more like 1972.

My grandma wears clothes from the 70s and I ask when she got them. She always say, "Oh 5 or 10 years ago". It couldn't be more obvious that she got them 35 or 40 years ago. Everything is relative when you're older I guess. I hope I'm never like that.

Hope that you are like that some day. It beats the alternative.

Here's my AT Pro the other morning just before it put in 8 hours on the beach!

My current arsenal, I still wish I had some of my CZ's with the 10.5 Spider coils.

DSCN1190.jpg[/ATTACH]

Here's my first one, circa 1970, when all sites in my area were virgin, nobody knew what a detector was, and permission was easy to get. No discrimination, dug all targets, and it cost about the same as a good one does today, a good week's wages.

fresh out of factory ....and...
Only for tough men /hard core detectorists

Sycotoad, what's a GF2? Looks like a T2?

GF2 = GoldFinder 2

Visibly the only difference to the T2 is the branding - Performance is around 85% of the T2 - I become interested in one of these after seeing a guy demonstrating one on youtube (airtesting coins up to 15") & the fact the I was inquisitive enough to risk losing a few hundred dollars to see if the product not only performed, but actually existed ........I could go into the finer details about the machine, however I dont want to be mistaken by those thinking I am promoting Chinese metal detectors -

At this stage we cannot get Teknetics units in NZ ao I suppose this to be the closest alternative - It performs better than I expected & for the price, it lines itself up nicely with the F2 / ETP / ACE 250 etc

Also because its Chinese made & cheap, Im not going to burst into tears if the person I loan it to is a little rough on it - Also saves you as well as you dont have to purchase a swag of covers just to protect your investment

Hope this helps;)

How's it compare?

Looks 100% apart from Name

Works exactly like a T2 with ver 6 software

Performance - Factory states 85% - our findings & tests concur that percentile to be an accurate indication -

The only real issue we had come accross was the fact that the upper rod when fitted to the main unit had too much movement even with the locking collar is tightened - replaced camlock which helped slightly - Eventually replaced upper shaft with one purchased from a dealer ($20) and the GF2 is sound & solid - must have been an ever so slight difference in rod diametre

Just be warned at this stage our testing has definately confirmed what a lot of others have stated regarding the T2 copies - They are !!!! & they are what you see on youtube as we also purchased and tested these -

However the GoldFinder 2 is definately step up from those fake T2's & IMO make for a great training unit for future T2 purchasers:cool:
