It’s not released yet, but you can get it now. It’s in the latest update app. I turned the automatic time settings on my computer off and set the date forward a few days. After doing that, the update app installed the unreleased update. Wouldn’t do it otherwise.

Apparently, it’s a new option added to Gold Mode. ‘MbE’
Didn’t see any difference anywhere else.

Thanks for that Stan.

I noticed Dilek had a 30 minute live stream, but I haven't watched it yet. I also just found out the Nokta added another feature, in addition to "Beast Mode":

1. Deep Target Identification (dt) feature has been added.
This feature allows non-ferrous deep targets, which are masked or detected as iron (ferrous), to be detected as non-ferrous.

That should be interesting, considering all nonferrous targets in the ground will eventually ID as iron at the fringe of detection. I guess it's a new algorithm that "re-processes" that type of signal, to better determine if it's ferrous or nonferrous.

I’m just a fill-dirt-park digger. Probably not of use to me. This is for more specialized use.

Good point.

I'm not so sure I'll be using it in park like sites. The Legend, and detectors like it, can already hit deep. With the depth as it is now, it can be a PITA to dig up the really deep targets. In addition, the optics of digging up those really deep targets in park like sites, is an open invitation to confrontation.

Here's the whole story:

Once you test The LEGEND V1.14 Beta-1 version, if you come across any bugs or faults, please report them by sending an email to [email protected] by April 22, 2023.

Please note that we will only evaluate bug or fault reports and no “wish lists” at this point so we can release the final version sooner than later.

Thank you for your understanding.

V1.14 Beta-1 Test – Beast Mode Software Update (2024.04.08)

Updates Made:

1. Deep Target Identification (dt) feature has been added.

This feature allows non-ferrous deep targets, which are masked or detected as iron (ferrous), to be detected as non-ferrous.

To access this feature, select the Recovery Speed setting and press the pinpoint button. When you navigate with the right and left keys, the letters “dt” will appear on the right side of the screen. You can change the value of the dt setting between 1-6 by using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons. When it is at 0, this feature is off. When you increase the value, the stability of the device may diminish. This feature can be used in all modes with both multi-frequency and single frequencies.

2. Beast mode has been added.
Very deep targets may have values close to the surrounding soil and therefore may not be detected. Beast mode allows you to detect targets at depths that cannot be detected in other modes.
This mode resets the ground balanced soil, allowing deep coins and large masses to be detected by the detector.
However, in this mode, targets at fringe depths may not give an ID or their ID may be unstable.
To use this feature, simply press the frequency key in Gold Field mode. Beast mode is indicated on the screen by the letters “bE” under the multi frequency symbol M.

3. Second ground balance feature added in Beast mode.
Due to its configuration, Beast mode may cause the device to give false signals to ground changes and mineralized/hot rocks. This may cause discomfort to the user during detection. Beast mode offers users a 2nd ground balance feature to overcome mineralized/hot rocks, red bricks and other ground changes in the surrounding environment that have different properties than the soil that’s been ground balanced. With the second ground balance, depending on the properties of the hot rock or brick, in some cases, complete silence can be achieved over these falsing targets. In other cases, a broken signal may be heard. Broken sounds indicate that the detected target is a mineralized/hot rock.

To use this feature, press the Ground Balance button to access the setting. Then, activate the 2nd ground balance feature by pressing the Frequency button. When the 2nd ground balance is activated, the number “2” appears on the screen above the letters Gb. You can perform the 2nd ground balance by pressing the pinpoint button. When Beast mode is selected, 1st and 2nd ground balancing can only be performed automatically. Manual ground balancing is not possible. You can switch from the 2nd ground balance to the first one by pressing the Frequency button again.

4. Ability to reset the 1st and 2nd ground balance settings in the Beast mode.
While Beast mode is selected, the ground balance value is reset by entering the ground balance menu and long pressing the up button. When the button is held down, the animation is shown on the screen. To reset the 2nd ground balance value, first activate the 2nd ground balance. Reset the 2nd ground balance value by pressing the up button again.

5. “Iron Rejection” feature in Beast mode.
Beast mode, like the Gold Field mode, produces signals for both non-ferrous and ferrous targets by changing the frequency of the sound according to the strength of the received signal. In order to distinguish ferrous targets, especially those closer to the surface, depending on the signal strength received from the ferrous target, the device emits a lower tone than that of the non-ferrous targets with the frequency varying according to the strength of the signal.

To access this feature, select the Recovery Speed setting and press the pinpoint button. The letters “Ir” will appear on the right side of the screen. You can change the value of the “Ir” setting between 1-5 by using the plus (+) and minus (-) keys. When it is at 0, this feature is off. When the value is increased, the probability of emitting a ferrous tone for deep non-ferrous targets increases.

Scenario, dime on apartment floor with a load of crap below.

Without ‘dt’ setting, Legend didn’t have very much depth. Same for Nox600, Gama 6000, Time Ranger Pro and F70.

Changing ‘dt’ setting to 4, a lot more inches for Legend. Unstable ID in extended range, as she stated, and not great sound, but you could tell there was a small target below.

Interestingly, Simplex Ultra had pretty good depth.
X-Terra Pro hit it way deeper than anything else with a reasonably close but very jumpy ID.

The only thing this shows is that the ‘dt’ setting does seem to do what it says.
It also shows that some of the “entry level” detectors with the latest advancements, may not be so entry level.

I’m pretty sure nox 600/800 are designed to target gold. Dime in iron not a fair evaluation.
Just to be sure, I put a nickel down. Nox600 did as expected.

Added Note: Deus 1 didn’t handle that scenario well in programs; 1 – 5. I realize you could probably change the settings and find something that works.

:?: :?: wow I thought my phone was hard to set up . sube

Turns out, that Beast Mode only works in Gold Mode.

Anyway, I just did a quick test with the new update using a buried dime that was very iffy in Park Mode. It was a 1 way hit, and even that 1 way hit was scratchy and intermittent.

Beast mode was much more quiet on the dime than Park mode. I don't use gold mode, but I did find out that gold mode's audio gain default is much lower than Park mode. I raised gold mode's AG, and beast mode gave about the same very iffy response as park mode. I do have very mild ground, so I'm wondering (especially given gold bearing ground mineralization), is if beast mode is mainly effective in mid to high mineralized ground.

On the other hand, the DTI in Park mode made a significant difference on the dime, by turning the very iffy "don't dig me" signal, to a solid 2 way hit...even when raising the coil some.

Here is the link for V1.14. Going to try it on one of my Legends and compare results.

Try a Nickel or gold ring vs dime.
See what happens. Results could be different. Using lower conductor.

Has anyone tried to install this update? I cannot seem to get it to connect to the legend, virus programs turned off, legend just stays in UPdate mode, program searches for legend.

For me, this is something to try every now and then to see if it even applies to my hunting, parks.
I want to play around with this in the mineralized sand of Myrtle Beach and see the effect. What I've noticed in my very short time MD'ing, is that "deep iron targets" here equals snow fence. Hurricanes over the years threw the snow fence that was once in front of the dunes out to the waterline. What else could be down there? I think this could be a feast or famine type setting for my general area.

Will do.

My test wasn't exactly thorough lol. It was just a "gotta give it a quick try" in the fierce winds :)

I think Dan is onto something about beast mode being a specialized mode. I've got about the least mineralized ground possible, and BM isn't getting any extra depth for me. That's part of the reason why I think it's meant for mid to high magnetite ground.

In addition, the DTI feature was impressive in my controlled test on the dime, but I haven't hunted with it yet.

LOL, I wasn’t going to mention this, but Paystreak mentioned it in a video. The ‘dt’ setting changes to audio for 60 tones. It’s kind of like 60 tones + VCO. I played with this a little in a dig. Sounds are a personal thing. I almost might consider this a positive. It does seem to corral the target better but is a little strange. Didn’t try it very long because it’d take getting used to, afraid of missing targets.

I’m a park digger. I’ll leave this to others. I’ll play with it, but I don’t think I’m the targeted user.

I like the Deep Tones setting a lot so far on settings 1 and 2, not so much on 3 through 6 which tend to fracture both the ferrous and non-ferrous audio response too much.

I am keeping my mouth shut about the MBe option in Goldfield. Anything I have to say is getting sent to Nokta.

Why hold back? I respect your well written and thought out comments. Let me know through a PM if you don't mind.

Nokta asked for constructive feedback sent to them especially about Beast Mode. I am not going to post it here.
