New and looking for the best coin machine

Will do. I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on the Manticore. It will be the first minelab I have ever touched so it will be fun learning the machine as well as honing my skills. My daughter will be thrilled that she got the ATPro. Will be a big step up for her as well. I appreciate everyone’s time and expertise and I’m looking forward to the new friendships on here as well. I will keep everyone posted as to how things are going and hopefully be able to post some good finds. Thanks
If you are not familiar with Minelabs I would caution against it. It is not just a turn on and go machine and if you read some of the post here you will see how frustrating it can be. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with mine but also have been using Minelabs for the last eight years. For a great turn on and go machine I would recommend a Legend or if you set on a Minelab, a 6 or 800 would be a good choice. JMHO. Good luck. Mark

Coin Shooter... no doubt XP's ORX has an incredible knack of finding early colonial silvers, half cents, large cents etc.. Since I purchased it, think 4 years ago, I've dug more colonial silvers like cut reales, half & 1 reales, trimes, early 1800 half dimes & dimes, many seated, and more, it loves old small thin silver. Its Low Frequencies coil partnered with its High Frequencies coil, operating only in single frequency, really makes it shine over SMF detectors in my opinion. If someone asked me, out of my over 30 years of detecting, what's the best detector you've ever swung for coins, this would be my answer.

For the price of a new XP ORX you can likely find a used XP DEUS. Both are amazingly lightweight, like no other machine.
To me they are simpler to use than many other detectors.
Rather than trying to remember what a dozen different icons stand for in the way of settings adjustment you just scroll through actual words like sensitivity, reactivity, volume, etc.

I am still a newbie with the DEUS staying mostly with the basic program but I've read that the X/Y graph is supposed to aid in identifying coins

I think there is probably gonna be a steep learning curve regardless of which one I go with. I have looked hard at the XP line and I have a friend from Germany that has the most mind blowing collection of WW2 relics. He is an XP guy, big time.
On a little bit of a different note, what’s out there as far as pinpointed go? I have the Garrett pro pointer and have been pretty happy with it. I was thinking I may pass that along also and get something different to try. I have watched some videos of guy using one that has a constant tone that gets louder as you get closer to the target. Kind of like that. The Garrett pretty much just beeps. Again, thank you to everyone responding. I am loving this forum. Everyone is so experienced and helpful.

Just found this in my old detecting stuff. This was in the front yard of my old house which backs up to Auburn University which was a confederate training camp back when the war broke out. I have several silvers and many buttons and such from that house. This Dutch oven lid started off ringing up as a dollar but was about 2 foot down. That was my old whites with the 300mm coil. Just decided to dig till I found what it was and low and behold, I pulled this thing out,lol

I have been using the Deus 2 for good while and I can save you a little time. I find the XY screen almost totally useless for ID on coins. Great Detector though.

There is a very good Pinpointer for the Deus 2 called a Uniprobe. I highly recommend it.

By the way Deus 2 Earphones kill my ears. If you do buy the Uniprobe make sure you get the one made for the Deus. The Puck plugs into the Headphones to keep it Wireless. You just flip a switch to go from Headphones to Pinpoint. Pinpointer is PI and requires motion which is great for locating a target. You also gain a couple inches over most other Pinpointer. The Uniprobe will detect 3-6".

The best coinshooter on the market? Ask ten different people and you'll probably get ten different answers. It's like asking which is the best coffee on the market? or which bakery makes the best cakes. Your AT Pro will find just about anything that's out there just as other brands will. Most likely no one you ask will have used EVERY detector on the market so how can they say which is best?

Your correct however I can get information and people’s experiences with various detectors which at the very least may open my eyes to detectors I may have not even thought about. Which they already have

Also, on the ATPro. Mine is the basic ATPRO, not the max. I’ve gotten to the point where I can’t see the screen very well and not to mention that night hunts are out of the question since it has no back light on the display. These are the key reasons I’m looking to upgrade

Well I guess I should announce that I bit the bullet and ordered a Manticore. She ticks all the boxes as far as I can see. Also ordered a minelab pin pointer, the M9 coil and M8 coil as well as the minelab harness. Every detector I’ve ever owned I have had a full array of coils I could switch between. Figured this should be no different. I want to thank everyone for the input, experience and the recommendations and I look forward to posting some finds and I will keep everyone posted as I learn the new equipment.

On many occasions, I've come across the argument of, "You don't own that detector, so how do you know how it compares to other detectors". To put it mildly, that argument doesn't make any sense. It's as though the people who say that don't know that there are countless videos on the internet from very experienced hunters who do comparison videos using various scenarios and detectors. What's clear in the videos, is that there isn't a meaningful performance difference between a mid-priced Nokta or Minelab detector and their higher priced detectors. Nor should there be, because they're all using the same Multi-IQ technology.

Anyway, you bought a Manticore and no doubt you're going to be impressed with it. It will be quite a learning curve though. My suggestion is to start out by going really easy on the sensitivity level. Maybe start out with the sensitivity at around 20. You'll still get great depth at that sensitivity level.

Thank you. I will definitely heed your warning about the sensitivity
