Back to using a simple but effective detector, good to have a Tesoro (Vaquero) again.

Enjoy your Tesoro, and please keep us posted on your finds! When you have a detector that you like and that you've learned to understand & operate well, I think that can be even better than having a super high-end one.

When I got my Nox 600, I did not get rid of my Vaquero. It may be a backup, but it's one heck of a backup.

I posted a new thread asking this question:

Have you searched in water with you Vaquero?

I should have looked at already posted threads first to ask my question.

I am not a water hunter, but I am not sure I would try that. Tesoro had two water detectors, the Sand Shark (PI) and Tiger Shark. I don't thing the Vaquero was meant for water. Sand, yes. Water, No.

I have thought about going back to one of my favorite old detectors, but the weight keeps me swinging a newer model.

We know it is knowledge (location & how to use your detector) that really accounts for success. Well, that and luck sometimes LOL.

Tesoro vaq is fine in fresh water ..the coils are water proof.. the box is not..
People been hunting water back when there were no waterproof boxes ..as long as the coil is not cracked etc. ..have at it
