How to finance a Minelab GPZ 7000 ($9,999)

I dunno, Minelab is on record making some extreme and specific claims, twice as deep as GPX 5000.
Gotta keep in mind that in N. America, we get mostly placer gold without deep hard rock mining. Australia is a prospecting paradise, they get patches with picker to multi ounce nuggets. If this detector really goes twice as deep, they WILL find huge amounts of gold in the same areas.

I see where I went wrong, they slid the scale in the graphs. Anyways, even with a 40% depth increase that means a whole new layer of finds in hunted out areas.

I think it's the bigger coil making for the extra depth. Oh, Hi Earl.

They claim "up to 40% deeper" which means that's probably in the best of conditions. I also read that the higher depth increases are on larger targets. At best you're getting an extra 4in for every 10in, but i'd be willing to bet it's really 2in or so on most targets, in most soils. If you're getting 20in now on a specific target you might get 24in with the GPZ. I can't see paying $5,000 more for that. If they guaranteed 40% on all targets then it might be worth it to some, but the carefully worded "up to" says a lot.

If you can finance that machine, along with the cost of fuel and camping costs and any other accessories, then you probably don't need to go gold detecting.
I'd say; whatever you've done to have that type of money lying around, just to blow on a detector, you probably want to keep doing that.

In the meantime, for giggles, I put my internet domain name BOOGERFLING (.com) up for auction with a buyout of $17,000 and a minimum bid of $10K - if by slim chance it sells then I will get a GPZ 7000 !!!

Think about this.... even if they do not sell one unit at this price, they will still make a ton of money.
When talking to your wife about getting a detector, or browsing the site to order a detector
You will say "I can get this one for $10,000 or this Etrac for $1500, honey." Of course she'll say get the $1500 unit... Bamm, they made a sale based on a comparison.
Same with you browsing their website, Hmmm, I could get this one for $10k or this one for $1500... bamm, another $1500 sale! It's genius from them really...lol

Haha true, but if you pay $1500 for an E-trac you paid about $400 too much.
Luckily, being single, I just buy all the detectors and guns I can afford, unfortunately I can't afford $10,000.
