hah, hah these new guys spring up from time to time on metal detecting forums. Motive? either truly a babe in the woods or just likes to stir the pot some. Dowsing is a snake oil process use to fleece people of their money. Either by getting paid to find water, gold, you name it or sell dowsing rods. Nice mark up, cut a coat hanger, make a 90 degree bend on two of them and you are set to sell them for $24.95. 99.99% profit margin. For an extra $5.00 they will include a tinfoil hat.
I remember A dowsing rod thread like this years ago. As several posters have said the water table is every where. Some of these dowsing individuals of the past using dowsing rods to find water for farmers were successful. Why? Because they would often wander around the farm site and eventually end up near trees and dip the rods and everyone got real excited and yes, he found water when they drilled a well. Of course he found water, trees don't live where there is no water for their roots.
As for remote viewing, we now have drones for that and they are pretty darn good at what they do. Google earth ain't too bad either. Historic Aerials will even allow you to view in the past.
As for future pot stirrers, It usually does not work. Why, it has been my observation that many, many of forum detecting members are a pretty smart group of men and women. With the detectors we have been using since the late 1970's you have to be pretty smart to even learn how to use the effectively. And with SMF detectors it sometimes makes me think you need an MBA in metal detecting to use them effectively. When you look at the combinations and permutations the settings on a 600, 800, Legend, XP2 you have a very strong possibility of ending up with a detector that cannot find squat if you don't set up the detector properly. Imagine what it would be like if we had that many settings required to be set properly to drive our cars.
So don't even try to convince anyone on these forum that dowsing and remote viewing is anything but snake oil BS.
