Equinox waterproof housing

Thanks everyone! I ended up purchasing a new equinox 800 with a sea wolf mod from Darren in Russia for 800 usd with shipping. Shipped out today so I should have it in a few weeks. I’ll be back to let everyone know how it turns out. If you want to check it out it’s seawolf_Aqua on Instagram.

That's a really cool mod. Keep us updated with how it goes

Anyone know of anyone that can do a waterproof housing on the equinox? I’ve flooded 2 machines so far and have anxiety every time I go near the water now. Any info is appreciated!

Ditto. I drowned 2 as well and now on my last 4 months before the (3 year) warranty expires. That is why I just bought a second one AND I got a free 15" coil with the detector (and, yes, the standard 11" coil came w it as well.). Offer is good until end of month. Not sure I can mention Bart and company. Not going to hold back and avoid water; life is too short and the tide is always coming in...
Happy Hunting

My only concern is that because it doesn’t use the minelab charging port I’m not sure if I’ll be able to upload updates. Where in Florida are you? I’m in Bradenton

I’m curious who has one out of warranty and had it flood….. what’s the cost of that box? Odd I’ve not heard anyone mention that. Mines out of warranty…. The box was replaced at warranty end …. Not flooded the battery died and there were stress cracks in the plastic where those screws go to hold the handle on. I’ve broken a couple of ear, a cuff and quickly threw that shaft away. And those headphones….. I was lucky that Tony Eisenhower contacted me when he started doing phones so I was one of the first to get it wet. Their headphones…. Ugh. I might mention…. I’ve not flooded my MDT and I’ve had it nearly 3 years.

I have read on a forum the cost of a control box was $350. I cannot confirm it thou.

Sounds exactly like that...

My Excal II made crackling sounds and also would go in and out when the battery cable rotted after about 7-8 years of use (wiggle the cables and see what they do). I replaced the cable, not an easy task, (and replaced knobs, shaft) and now don't trust it submerged...but it works.

Can you link to this mod?

I run into same with my Etrac. Its my relic machine and I was using it on the beach and was scared I was going to get it wet, so i purchased the Excalibur for beach. It took me a while to get used to it but I would not trade for the beach for anything else. No worries about getting it wet.

Watching this thread closely... I am doing my own waterproofing project on my out of warranty 600. If the tests fail, I'm about due for a new detector anyway

I inspected all my cables closely and I couldn't see any sign of cracking, I can't see any water in the control box so I assume it's in the headphones.

I watch a guy on youtube Bondi treasure hunting. 2-3 videos ago he had a housing on his nox while diving. I have been looking for this equipment.

That seems cheap enough…… but ya think the warranty is like 6 mos? I was sure hoping it wasn’t near the $500 range to prompt you to just buy a new one. Thanks.

I think $350 is the price of an 800 control pod replacement for out-of-warranty situations. I think the 600 pod replacement is closer to $250 or $275 or so.

Either way, not a bad deal.

The warranty is 3 yrs on a new NOX and I've used every bit of it! Just about to receive my second pod replacement in just under 3 years. I drowned the first 2 in 1 ft of water. But I'm spoiled in that I really appreciate all the great finds I've had in the past 3 years with the Nox 800 - Just bought a second one "just-in-case" and guess what? I'm using it right now!
