Does the Nokta LG24 have any advantages over stock coil?

I'm still very new to this, but I have done a lot of reading about it. I'm from MA, and its a very historic area, but compared to a lot of places MA is small. Anyway I have the stock LG28 coil, and its good. But I have seen a fair amount of videos favoring the LG24.
The LG24 seems to pinpoint better. I must say even with my stock coil sometime I get a great response only to not be able to find anything, even with my Garrett Pro pointer.
Being new I should probably just stick to stock and learn the Detector better, which is what I am doing, but I would like to start with every advantage I can get.
I'm mostly in it for the historical stuff, going down the beach just isn't my thing. So coins and relics would be what I was most interested in. Plus the salt air and ocean water don't treat anything you find very well.
One other thing is permissions, I was thinking of it from my viewpoint as a home owner. If someone asked to dig up my lawn to look for stuff I would probably just say no. So would you only ask permissions for mostly farm lands? I know of a school house property about 10 houses awy from where I live, but I don't think I would ever ask them If I could metal detect there, and I know it would have a lot of things there.

Hi Bruce.

Smaller coils are less prone to EMI / ground noise, are more sensitive to smaller targets like coins on edge, and have better separation performance due to less targets being under the coil at the same time. Plus, it's just much more comfortable to swing a smaller coil. The disadvantage of smaller coils, is less depth on some coin sized objects, and less coverage.

In the specific regard to the LG24 and LG28:

The LG24 is much lighter and easier to swing. Depth loss using the LG24 on a coin the size of a dime, will be about 2" if the coin is lying flat. If the coin is on edge, depth is similar with both those coils.

I like the LG24 for shallow finds and long grass, BUT I've been swinging the LG35 manhole for the last 3 hunts and it's a deep seeker. A little tricky to pinpoint but that honker sniffs out the goods. Great for covering large areas with little junk for sure. It is heavy on my old arms but worth the discomfort.

Diga, from my limited experience with the LG35, it's at least 2 inches deeper. I'm hunting less area and uncovering more coins because of all of the targets it's discovering.

Right Mark, but Bruce was asking about the LG24 compared to the LG28 :)

Thanks, for the price I thought it might be a worthwhile investment. Now I just have to look for places to search. I also have to become more familiar with the machine. Sometimes its just noisy and I don't know why, but thats more on me.
I also might try some state parks around me. Problem is there huge.
Might try for some permissions too, just go up to areas with farms and ask. Seems a bit forward to me, but who knows?

Excellent coil to hurt in areas that are trashy . I dislike the stock coil due to its size . You will still get 8”-10” depth targets !!!

I've had a Simplex and a Legend and found the respective 9" coils to be a big improvement.

Approach the school house owner and suggest a split of the treasures you might uncover.
He/she should have some curiosity of what lies beneath.

I have all four coils and 99% of the time I use the nine inch coil it’s lighter and in the woods it’s easier to swing. If you’re trying to learn it don’t mess with all the settings just do the ground balance and the frequency shift and adjust the sensitivity to wear it’s not chatting and go out and find stuff if you have a yard swing around and dig some stuff

I started with the LG28 and then switched to the LG24 and never looked back but I like small coils for the places I detect in. I am even thinking of getting the LG 15 When I ask permission I always tell them if I somehow would find treasure that I would use the 70-30 rule. The property owner gets 70% and the detector gets 30%. I also agree with Wgan that it is better to keep it simple for a while to you really learn the machine!
