It has finally sunk in that the copper coins I have in olive oil now don't belong there. I could use some tips on removing the oil from the coins. Thanks!

I read in another post that acetone/alcohol would work, but I was hoping to get more specifics as to how much, how long etc. before trying it on fragile coins.

Thanks for all the help folks!

Most soaps are high in salt (though a car care product shouldn't be).
Acid is the best pure silver and pure copper cleaner but it must be well neutralised with lots of water afterwards. Not suggested for poor quality metals.
Acetone or alcohol work well and are safe enough not to have to worry about damage of the coin/item. A dip is enough with normal coins but if they have sat in oil for a long time then it has to be a long dip to get right into the metal at any damage points.
A further good soak in water, even longer drying out and an application of wax should preserve things. If you decide to laquer don't get one from a D.I.Y. store get the proper conservation grade.
