I think I'd go nuts listening to a CTX for 4-5 hours straight. You CTX guys ever have this image pop into your head while hunting?

In the first video he says the cap is only for keeping sand and salt out... and that guy in blue near the beginning, we crossed paths about a month ago... Imagine that...

The second video, my only question... does Minelab supply the rubber bands, or do you have to send it in since you can't buy replacement parts???... Just curious...

Hope your machine does not have a problem...

Was this a used machine that did not come with an owners manual? And maybe not all of the parts like the needed headphone plug?

I can see it now. " Was gonna go detecting. But the store was out of rubber bands." Hopefully by the time i get the bucks for a CTX whoever is making the detector that is in the works for water hunting will release it. Never had to put rubber bands on my dualfield or BHID.
Hope your machine is okay. Guy i saw post on another forum sent his in for the same problem he was having 4 times. Yikes!

The CTX technically does not come with an owners manual due to all the updates it will have. It comes with a users guide and the exchange program has the manual on it.

It doesn't come with any manuals. You have to print them off. they're close to 100 pages long and do not have page numbers or any identifying marks. There is nothing about what is or isn't waterproof in the owners manual, but only in the three-page getting started guide. The machine is fine. Already used it for several hours this morning. Will be getting in the water shortly. Just trying to patch my waders

best thing to always do is search youtube information vids. My excal didn't come with useful information brand new either. DFX has a Whites follow along video series that will make you feel like a geek when you are done watching it:lol: And it will take a while to watch all those vids. They need to pay Gary a couple hundred thousand to put together a good vid. Call it 100% guaranteed Klondike." Thank you for purchasing the Minelab CTX 3030. Soon you will be rich beyond all your wildest dreams. And you can quit your dayjob!"

I had a CTX-3030. True it does not come with a printed manual, and yes it is a huge one to print out, but you better read it!! Also...you can view the manual on a PC, it does Not have to be printed. The manual was clear...you MUST have that black cap (that looks like it has a Philips head screw driver) installed OR waterproof headphones screwed into that same jack to make it waterproof. In your pic the cap is on properly...if you dunked it without that black cap on....good luck it was not waterproof.

Also...you need to remove your battery and make sure that thin little O-Ring is clean and doing its job. I was horrified to see a little drop of water in my battery compartment...the O-Ring had leaked by. Though the battery compartment itself is waterproof, any water in there can quickly destroy the battery terminals!! I had to put just a tiny amout of silicone grease on the O-Ring to stop it from happening.

On the positive side, we all have an old sock to put sand in to keep the coil down! Easy fix!!

You did put silicone around the forward pinion I am sure. It is in the manual. Everyone puts silicone on the forward pinion. OK, I am done. I am going to bed but before I will grease my pinion.
