Counterfeit Cut Coin

In a magazine I was going through i saw “counterfeit Cut” Spanish reales! The area I have been digging was known to have many 1500 Spanish fleets arrive and inhabit this area. So when I found this I thought maybe? Any thoughts?

Looks like a piece of iron to me. How big is it?

is it magnetic?

seems too thick, chunky and irregular.
I have only found one counterfeit coin and it was more like pewter

Both counterfeits I've found were both pewter. I don't think iron would be heavy enough to "feel" right.
