I hit up the same beach I went to last Thursday yesterday, with hopes of finding some jewelry. No such luck, but I did net over $5.00 in clad (a record for me so far), comprised of 55 coins, plus a 50 euro coin. There are a lot of people detecting, from the looks of things. The most obvious sign is the detection of deep targets that ring up as anything from penny to quarter, at 6+ inches (which are always cans), accompanied by evidence that someone began to dig the target, but covered the can up without removing it and throwing it away. I must have thrown away 20 cans, one was full of beer yet. With this beach being so popular and full, there will always be clad coins near the surface. I hope to go next Thursday after the 4th rush.

I'm in the same boat: I find evidence of other detectorists at every tot lot I've been to, and my brother went for a walk last Sunday, and saw four different people detecting--I've got lots of competition.
