In addition to collecting coins, I also collect 1950's and 1960's gum cards and recently added a few more to the collection. The card on top is from a 1962 series called "Civil War News" and depicts Clara Barton on it. The three WWII vintage planes are from a set produced in 1952 called "Wings", and the small sized card at the bottom is from a set produced in 1954 called "Scoop" which depicted items that were well known events in history. This particular one is of the 1929 Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, in which hitmen for Al Capone disguised as policemen murdered men from Bugs Moran's gang. The back of the card was made to look like the front page of a newspaper.

Very cool cards D4C. I don't remember them. I do remember I had a collection of civil war cards. The only thing I collect besides coins is Remington Bullet knives and memorabilia. Haven't added anything in years. Anyway, always nice to have other interests. Mark

Thanks Mark,
The earlier cards were probably produced before your time. Back then, in addition to the usual baseball and football cards there were many other card sets and a lot of them had to do with history in some form or another. Series like US Navy Victories, US Presidents, Scoop, Look N See, and many others were very popular back then. I spent MANY nickels on cards when I was a kid. Now I'm re-living my childhood with cards I had a long time ago. What type of memorabilia do you collect?

 I thing alot of us are re-living or trying to re-live our youth. I collect Remington memorabilia. You would be surprised at how much there is out there. When I was a kid hunting with my dad and his buddies I remember someone saying the phrase you are a dyed in the wool Remington man. I guess it stuck. ha ha. Oh the memories we carry with us. Take care pal. Mark

This is just my knife display. I have tins, clocks thermometers, plates, mugs everywhere. Most are repros but still cool to look at.

Wow, wow, wow. I found a few bottles and was impressed with myself. Now I know what impressive is. That is awesome for sure, thanks for sharing.

Cool, love the WW2 airplanes. Didn't know they had any other bg cards other than baseball and football. (Not including kids fantasy bs things nowadays)

There were many types of interesting cards back in the 1950's. Wings, Rails and Sails, Civil War News, Navy Victories, Scoop, Look N' See, Movie Stars, Wheels, just to name a few. If you want to see some examples, go to Deanscards.com and click on "non sport cards". Many of them are very reasonably priced.

Here's a few of my gum cards - Beatles (all series), and some old car cards. I wished I'd saved the darn wrappers. They're worth more than the cards!View attachment 584225View attachment 584226View attachment 584227View attachment 584228
My girlfriend Sue collects the Beatles cards along with cards of JFK. I have a few of the cards that you show that have cars on them. They were from a set called "Wheels" that came out in 1954 or 1955. You're correct that many times the wrappers are worth more than the cards and that's because almost nobody saved the wrappers.
