KT decided to visit one of His Majesty’s favorite eateries this evening. So He went out to the Royal Coach House, got in and attempted to start it. Not only did it not start, but the dash lights started flashing intermittently and iratically! And at first KT could not get them to stop. This Coach is a fully electronically controlled gas engine model. Quickly KT decided He must disconnect the battery. After disconnecting the + side, KT cleaned the post and connector, then reconnected the + side. Then just to be certain, KT also cleaned the - connector and post. That stopped the glitchy electronics and the only thing KT had to reset were his two favorite FM stations! Ha ha. Made the trip to the cafe and back flawlessly. His Majesty thinketh that the battery corrosion is what caused the glitchy sensors and refusal to start. Royally glad that I did not miss my Royal Supper! LOL KT gets Royally Grumpy if He missed his dinner! :giggle: :rofl2:

Nice that you had the foresight to troubleshoot it KT. That seems to be becoming a lost art from where I am seeing things these days. My dad knows so much more than I do about everything - but I sat and watched him do everything I could growing up - wish my kids would have done the same with me - they did a little but always had the draw to digital devices. I think those are the downfall of America  :crying:

Anyway, I digress - but very glad you got your full amperage back and the Royal Coach had it's horse's buttocks slapped into shape and got to eat thy royal supperage - and only lost two FM station presets! :)

"Summon my service manager! Off with his head!"

Way to save the day.......My father had the original owners manual for his first car and it showed you how to adjust the valves. Nowadays there are warnings in the owners' manual not to drink the battery fluid. Go figure.

HA HA, yes, GroundSweeper, The Royal Supperage waits for no King, so KT had to get with it! Yes, the first car KT had was given to him by his Royal father. KT remembers changing the spark plugs, resetting the timing, and adjusting the carburetor! Nowadays, it has come down to power interruption to get the computer to reset to base settings! In some ways, pretty disconcerting and other ways a bit simpler!  Like on the Royal Computer, when it starts getting glitchy, turn off and in a few minutes turn back on. If that does not work, call the Royal Tech!

KT has the service manual, but when something like this happens, rather than try and find the answer, it is better to go to the heart of the problem...turn off the electricity, wait a minute, reconnect it and see what happens! HA HA It took longer to find a couple of Royal Wrenches than to fix the problem!

I watch a lot of Scotty Kilmer youtube videos, and it's surprising how many car problems are caused by a weak battery or corroded terminals. Modern cars are more sensitive with all the electronics. I also remember changing plugs, adjusting points, and setting ignition timing.

KT is a big proponent of Scotty Kilmer, too! Next time this type of thing happens, it’s off to the auto store to buy a new one! KT looked and did not find any date label on the battery!

I've worked on vehicles my whole life , and I too watch car channels and my experience I agree with ALOT of his opinions.. especially "IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY , STAY AWAY FROM MODERN AMERICAN VEHICLES"
I live by that statement, but I try to keep vehicles as long as possible ..I have a 96 corolla...lolol

Well, guess what! Today, two days after this incident, KT decided to take the Royal Coach in for an oil change, and fluids check. After that was done, the Royal Coach refused to start, and the oil shop manager used a jumper on it. So, further diagnosis of this continuing saga, saw KT visiting an O'Rielly auto supply down the block from the oil change specialty shop. Once there, KT had one of the service men come out and run a diagnostic on the battery....dead cell! This stands to reason because computers are very sensitive to voltage changes, especially voltage drops. So out comes the Royal Credit Card and KT has them install a new battery. Having purchased this Coach 2 1/2 years ago, and not knowing the age of the battery as the sticker had fallen off, it was high time for this to be done! KT believes that the problem is now resolved, but we shall keep an eye on the situation because we have some sub-freezing temps at night and some during the days coming in the next couple of weeks! It is just a good thing KT was not caught out on the road somewhere, so the Man Above is looking out for KingTotsalot! HA HA And with the oil change and new battery, KT's Royal Pocket Book is around $300 lighter! Such is life!

$$$ Ouch KT. But a good battery is good to have, especially in winter. I bought my car used, and not too long after it wouldn't start due to the battery expiring  it was the original battery to the car. Hopefully you're Royal Coach is grand royal from now own.
