The treasure for those guys is the money they make per episode. Most of those type shows pay $35,000 per show, per main character. If something had been found there you would have heard it thru the news by now.
Ah, but the "treasure-faithful" have that base covered too. Don't you know the rejoinder for this ? The fact of a treasure not being found NOW, simply means : "Aha ! they must have found it on past digs decades ago, or back in the 1800s, etc.... But the lucky finders kept mum, and retired to a life of luxury somewhere".
See ? At NO POINT is, or was, there not certainly a "treasure". It was most certainly there. Any any factoid (endless dry holes, etc....) all have explanations, that the faithful can whittle away at your evidence with. Same for my backyard : Any evidence that you can present to me for lack-of-treasure in my backyard, so too can I explain it away with vast conspiracies, not deep enough, etc....
Durned those treasure seekers that dug it up in the past, and simply kept mum, eh ?
