Yes it is. Depending on the event, DJ's can get anywhere from $100/hour to $250/hour or more.
A co-worker wanted me to do her wedding for $200 and travel 2 hours to NH and include uplighting
Thats a 11-12 hour day!
I usually include uplighting with my packages, but your going to pay $800+ for a wedding.
A lot of folks don't realize the amount of work a DJ has to do before the event. Work usually begins after the initial consultation. ie: Putting together the appropriate clean versions of music, creating the timeline in which everything is to take place, believe it or not, practicing announcements/names etc. then the actual work and travel time.
