What does everyone do for a living?

I'm a realtor by profession which I love doing! It isn't the greatest job to get out metal detecting as I tend to work most evenings and weekends, however I do have unique opportunities to ask permission to hunt old properties :D

I work for an Insurance broker for large companies who are in the Bio-Pharmaceutical business and Life Science business. I used to own my own DJ company, but Craigslist killed the industry because everyone expects a $300 price tag for my services. :-/ Now DJ'ing is a hobby.

$300 is low for a DJ? I've never hired one.

I apply oil to Bikini models for magazine shoots. Really boring work and my hands get awful cramped. Plus only pays $50 an hour so I am thinking about quitting.:D

Yes it is. Depending on the event, DJ's can get anywhere from $100/hour to $250/hour or more.

A co-worker wanted me to do her wedding for $200 and travel 2 hours to NH and include uplighting  Thats a 11-12 hour day!

I usually include uplighting with my packages, but your going to pay $800+ for a wedding.

A lot of folks don't realize the amount of work a DJ has to do before the event. Work usually begins after the initial consultation. ie: Putting together the appropriate clean versions of music, creating the timeline in which everything is to take place, believe it or not, practicing announcements/names etc. then the actual work and travel time. Here is a pic of a wedding I did and my setup. $800

Sounds very similar to playing in a bar band 20 years ago. Had to drive however far it was to the venue early in the day, do all of the equipment setup and testing, then do the show, then do all of the teardown and load the equipment back up, drive all the way home late that night, and get paid a whopping $2-500 bucks that had to be divided by all the band members for the privilege of all that work... Probably why I stopped playing in bands.

I'm a custodian at a middle school. I clean up after the kiddies. The property the school is on is old and huge. Coin drops everywhere.

I am a police dispatcher at a large 911 center.
The hours I work make it a little challenging to get out and hunt, especially with other people, but I do have a good handle on the geography of my county. I know where all the parks are :)

Yep that's why I pretty much gave up DJ'ing. People don't want to pay.

Early retired graphics/forms designer/illustrator, worse part of it is that the companies wanted to own every work I did 24/7 and than a few years after, yet, at the same time didnt pay well enough to own me, best part is that I was abe to get my kids raised and on their way. I had to retire due to disability. Would love to get back to work, but still physically not able to work the hours consistantly. :(

Retired after 20 years in the military, 4 years Navy, 16 years Marine Corps. Worked at an auto parts store for about a year after retirement, but now I am between jobs and things are kind of up in the air.
