Yet another silly season of "The Curse of Oak Island" coming up!

I'm said and done, this is stupid, attacking shows people watch, WHY? What is the next target ? And this is The Friendly Site, ya, members going after members ?
I'm sorry, just don't understand ?

No one's attacking anyone. We're all just giving our opinions on the show and the alleged treasure they're searching for week after week after week...

Are you trying to get this thread removed? Sad that you feel the need to attempt that.

Why do people feel the need to antagonize others , you made your point freebird !!

The reason is, because us skeptics can't get past the notion that the only reason anyone *could* find the show interesting, is because, deep-down, they hold out hope of "fabulous treasure" . And THAT is the reason for the "antagonize others".

In other words : The skeptic is not buying the proposal that it's only for kicks & giggles entertainment . Eg.: Like watching Gilligan's Island re-runs which we know are not real. So that even though the person SAYS they "know there's no treasure" and "is only watching it for entertainment", yet freebird is probably thinking "C'mon, it wouldn't be *entertaining* in the first place, UNLESS someone is (deep down) holding out hope in the plot.

And THAT is what we love to spar about. But yeah, freebird needs to realize that it aint possible to convert every last person on earth. He's overly passionate and outspoken . I can be guilty of that too, with certain "bee in my bonnet" topics. Doh !

In my opinion I cant see why you or anyone else would put so much energy in trying to bother others on such a mundane topic ...
Its one thing if the other folks are sparring back in a playful manner and obviously enjoying the " so called friendly sparring , but you and pointer seem to find enjoyment in messing with certain folks to the point of truely pissing them off .
Friendly fun I get , but you know as well as I this has gone beyond that
Once again - If it makes you guys feel better You win !

,,,,,,,,

Well, for starters, it's not me who is trying to get the other-side to "cry uncle". I am merely speculating on your question about Freebird's passion.

And again , the answer to your question is that the skeptical side can not fathom why anyone would find it interesting UNLESS they (deep down) thought there was going to be a treasure found. And THAT is where the pro/con debate is. But I agree with you, that even though the "faithful" might think that, there's still no need to get that other side to "cry uncle".

Believe me, I don't find enjoyment saying anything negative, and don't " pic .You can't make statements about what people do or watch, without people speaking up, not my intention, I didn't post, but replied to it the same as you do. I have seen other forums, bite the dust because of this nonsense, don't want this to go the same way, we have embers with real passionate feelings, I respect that, just when it influences the newer members in here, who speak up, to impress, I guess. Take this right or wrong. Have a great weekend, we have beautiful weather for Mi.
Mike, ( too_)

And now…..Back to the hoax of oak island. The longest running hoax in history.
Perfect, lol, and I watch hoaxes all the time.

All said and done, I think the world would be a better place if Oak Island was more popular than the Kardashians... Kardassian? Cardassian? Oh, wait... That last one is one of the aliens from Star Trek...
This proves my point that just because it's popular doesn't make it good or truthful or even worthwhile. While I respect everyones way of wasting time, I just don't get the butt hurt when others don't share the same passion. I know and like people who love the show. They just don't try to convince me it's real. They accept it for the mindless entertainment it is. It's no different than the WWE. Sure people get hurt and sure it's very physical but are they REALLY fighting? Nope......But people stopped that argument long ago. but it took wrestlers admitting it wasn't real before most of the fans actually believed it. Is it still popular? Sure......... But no one is trying to convince anyone that it's real.

I 'm not making up anything, Tim, don't put words in others mouths. When you pay my tv bill, then you can have a talk , on what we watch.

Relax and repeat after me. It's only a scripted and fake reality TV show, it's only a scripted and fake reality TV show, it's only a scripted and fake reality TV show...

Yet they keep trying

I went bottle digging with my wife yesterday , " We only had to walk a couple miles into the woods ! UP AND DOWN HILLS ( it felt more like mountains ) We survived , only came home with a couple bottles and marbles ( and we each had a tick embedded in our kneck ) Be warned folks , the ticks are out and ready to attack already here in michigan . Im tired and sore and ready to go again .
Dammit , I have to work !!! :)

the WWE. Sure people get hurt and sure it's very physical
I spent ~20 years working on a 9-1-1 ambulance in the suburban/urban environment. One of the places my agency was contracted to provide services was an arena. Yes, wrestlers are acting... yes they get hurt. I will also tell you, as a group, they are the friendliest, most genuine people you'd ever want to meet.

I realize and agree with all the hype and how they are making their money from the show itself, but I do enjoy the history of what they find. Whether it's hyped up or not, I still enjoy the show. If they truly felt they were not going to find anything, they wouldn't be digging a new shaft. That has got to be expensive. Hopefully someday they will find 'something'!

As I stated before, the Lagina brothers are getting paid 100k an episode each, so that's the main reason they don't give up. They'll search forever as long as the History channel pays them to do it.

.......If they truly felt they were not going to find anything, they wouldn't be digging a new shaft.....

"Sincerity" is not necessarily the measure of "truth". People can be very very "sincere", yet : Be sincerely wrong.

Last night's episode was yet more rehashing of fiction from previous seasons, a lot of, "could it be", and examining lumber left from previous hoaxers.
