I don't think galvanized cookware is as as rare as some are making it out to be. I'm not saying it is a potato ricer, but I will say every old potato ricer I've used was galvanized.

Thanks for the extra pics. I haven't given up yet. This must be a rare item if someone on here hasn't figured it out though. I posted the first pic on a FB group I belong to with quite a few older folks and no luck there either.Thank you for all the responses.
The previous owner had no clue of its origin.
It has no sharp edges.

Yes, there were galvanized utensils back in the day. And we used them, and we came out ok. Maybe we were a tougher crowd than what they're raising these days.
Maybe for ice fishing? Place it in the hole and the handles lay on top of the ice. When you come back from a bathroom break, you can lift out the ice and slush that formed in your hole.
