Got out for 3 hours to an 1920s school site. Dug up a ton of aluminum slaw... and a few coins. Out of those there were 6 wheaties... 1944, 45, 46, 48, 51 and 1925! AND a button stamped A.BENEDICT BEST DOUBLE GILT, measuring .78 in diameter. Any ideas on the age of the button?
From what I can find, the button is from circa 1812-1829. That would predate the school by 100 years, and be from around when the township of Norriton was established. Cool.
Cool digs; that old button is a great find, given the age (and the much younger age of the school you were hunting). It's always cool when a "newer" site coughs up a find from whatever the property was, in times past...
