Western & Eastern Treasures Magazine Out Of Print

When I first started detecting I used to subscribe to all of the different treasure magazines. After several years I quit because they were repeating themselves. Through a misunderstanding with the manager, I lost a storage shed and at the time I had five stacks of treasure magazines each about five feet high, as well as numerous finds. I don't know what ever happened to them.

That's a very sad story......same thing sort of happened to me. I lost many back issues of "Treasure", "Treasure Search", and W&ET magazine from the 1980's and some old books on metal detecting, not to mention a box full of oddball finds when I moved back in 1990. I think my ex-wife may have "accidentally" or even on purpose threw them all away.

Lost treasure magazine

"Lost Treasure" magazine is officially "out of business".

That is to bad it had a long history , I used to like it a lot but they started repeating a lot of the same stuff over and over . They even had the free on line version with a few good articles. I just checked and it looks like the last issue I received of Lost Treasure was December 2018.

metal detecting and treasure hunting magazines.

If Lost Treasure magazine which was around for 52 years is gone , and Western & Eastern Treasures is no longer printing their magazine is there any good ones out there worth checking out.

Sad to hear this. I won a years subscription to LT at our detecting picnic raffle, sent in the certificate but never received anything. Bummer!

Last year I bought my girlfriend a detector from Kellyco and one of the "freebies" was a sample issue of Lost Treasure. I sent in the card but never got the magazine. I called Kellyco and they told me they had no idea what was going on and to notify LT. Being it was only one issue, I didn't even bother to do so.

American Digger is still around but looking at their sample online, I don't think I'd like it and the price is quite high $38 for 6 issues.

I will check it out online but that would have to be one very special and thick magazine before I would pay that. Sounds rather high for my budget.

seems magazine writers are being replaced by cheap digital media's kids straight out of college with zero experience with how to write for entertainment purposes. I've had quite a few fishing/hunting/scuba magazines go digital and I just couldnt stand the new writers. I wonder how many they actually lose by going digital, vs how many they would have kept by not.

That's too bad. I don't know if anyone else has the problem but I have a hard time reading anything in digital format. I can do online forums but anything of length seems to bother my eyes, that's why I personally prefer the printed versions of most things.

I like print too. I've always ended my subscriptions to anything that went all digital.

I've got a few hundred back issues of W&ET so I'll be able to go through a dozen or so every winter to read when I can't detect. There's still a lot of holes in the complete set I was hoping to complete. I believe they'll lose quite a few customers now that there aren't any more printed issues.

I know I won't renew my subscription if it is digital only. May be they will sell off their back issues cheaper now.

Libraries usually have issues of various magazines available to read in the library (you can't check them out) now a specialty magazine like that they might not automatically carry, but maybe you can request they carry it and read it at the library if the subscription price is out of anyone's budget.

……..or you could make up your own online magazine :laughing::laughing:

After getting instructions on how to transfer my account to get the digital issues of W&ET I had to call them to find out how to access the issues once I was signed up. In order to read the digitals I need to load Adobe Flash Player. Some sources say it's safe and others say it's risky. I don't want to risk my computer security for the 5 remaining copies I have left. Phooey on W&ET.

I stay away from Adobe flash player also . Call them back up and ask for
either monetary compensation or back issues of your choice , you deserve something for your money .

Does anyone remember the mag, Treasure Found, came out 4 times a year for 8-10 years? I have the whole set. What I liked about them was the stories were about regular metal detecting guys. Not about lost gold mines or ship wrecks that most of us would never pursue.

I remember them quite well and had quite a few of them back in the day. The company that published them also put out Treasure and Treasure Search. Treasure came out monthly and if I remember correctly, Treasure search came out every other month.
