The hunt season is basically over and it was a sub par year for clad, the lowest amount I ever dug in a single season.......$158.00 I cashed it in at my credit union which has a no fee coin machine there, so I got the full amount. I then took that money to a coin show this past Sunday and used it to buy silver quarters. I was able to get 37 quarters priced at $17.10 per dollar, a much lower price than the $20.00 per dollar that JM Bullion is asking for. I also cashed my 2023 Coinstar finds ($35) and used it to buy the 9 Barber Dimes and 3 Buffalo nickels. The Barbers cost $3.50 each and the Buffalo Nickels cost $1.25 each

Did you tumble or clean your clad first? I made the mistake of taking some of mine to Coinstar a few months back. Totally jammed up the machine, but on the plus side did manage to find some silvers that were left behind when the machine had to be opened so it could be unclogged.

I guess you could just roll them, but I would imagine between dirt and wear they wouldn't weigh correctly.

You did real good my friend. Coin shows around here are few and far between. Oh, there are some coin dealers at several festival type shows in the summer that we go to, but not a true multi-dealer coin show. Well done bud.:waytogo:

Very nice purchases and way to turn clad into silver! I've got to get started on tumbling my clad, have 2 years worth sitting in old blue Ball jars out in the garage...

I tumble clean my clad after every hunt so that I don't have to do it all at once at the end of the season. I never take my coins to Coinstar because my credit union has a coin machine with no fees attached.

Thanks Hoser.....this makes digging all the clad worth the effort.

Wow what a fantastic way to use the clad. I dug up almost 350 bucks in clad and probably 25 bucks in pennies this year. I keep the coppers.

Great post, tip, and pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Do you collect and keep numerous common silvers of the same yr as an investment or just cuz you like coins?
I've never bought physical silver as an investment but would it be more economical to buy scrap silver as an investment as coins usually are more $ right ?
I got a few bux of Canadian and random foreign silvers if you are interested , as I only collect what I dig and i just ended up with those canadian and foreign silvers ..one of the canada dimes is 1947 with the "maple leaf" mint mark , i guess that's a pretty key date .
Msg if you want to make a deal!
I'm right on the montville line

I don't buy scrap sterling silver at all. I do buy 90% silver coins as an investment and sell it when the time is right. I have some Canadian silver and a few pieces of foreign silver that I've picked up here and there but don't actively buy either of them. Not buying anything right now because I spent my coin money at the recent show I went to.
