On Late Night News Oct 23rd!!!!!

OMG!!!!! I'm so sorry guys!!!!! You were doing SO well too!!!!!

On ABC Late Night News...

(AP)ALL OF TENNESSEE DECLARED A NATIONAL HISTORICAL SITE!!!!

In a last hour suprise Iraq War vote, the Senate overwhelmingly approved the $17 Billion appropriation bill requested by the White House. While the vote was expected, due to the upcoming election, there were several other emergency measures tacked onto the bill.

Among them was a hetherto unknown provision declaring the entire state of Tennessee a National Historical Site. This three sentence provision in the law signed by President Bush in the Oval Office this morning evidently went unnoticed by the vast majority of lawmakers anxious to get a funding bill passed before the traditional election recess.

Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen, himself an avid outdoorsman was appalled by the new law. Gov Bredesen, in an early morning press release, stated "We will fight this new law all the way to the Supreme Court. This is simply unacceptable to every hunter in our great state. Deer hunters, metal detectorists, and everyone who enjoys the great outdoors will have to immediately cease their recreational activity until we can win this court battle...and win it, we will. I have the entire state's legal team working on an appeal of this tragic law, and we expect hunting and detecting to begin again by January 2010."

Fellas, you put up a lot of points before this tragic event. The other teams' hats are off to you, but it looks like you're finished for this contest. Hopefully, the Supreme Court will rule in Tennessee's favor next year and you'll have another chance.

Respectfully,

TEAM LOWJIBER

Holy Cow! I am so sorry guys! All of the Civil War history over there did this to you. Now you will have to go out of state just to hunt. I hope the Supreme Court rules in yalls favor so yall can get back out hunting again soon!

Again, I am terribly sorry.

Somebody was just telling me about that a little bit ago; I"ll bet there's gonna be a lot of cheap detectors selling out of Tennessee. A shame...a darn shame!

Sucks!

I was watching CNN or MSNBC, forget which one and saw that story as a scroll along the bottom of the screen! Man, that sucks! So much for personal freedom!!:mad:

Tell everybody down in Tennessee that I'll take their detectors off their hands for a good honest price:
Top of line detectors- $100
Mid-range detectors- $50--you pay shipping.
Starter detectors- $10--you pay shipping and throw in new batteries.

You guys may have to take up some kind of hobby like kite flying now.
:D

Hey guys...I'm more than a little concerned about you spending some jail time over tomorrow's hunt. Perhaps, you'd be wise to "lay low" for a month or so to let the issue cool down. You just KNOW the cops are gonna be watching like hawks for the next month.

This is a Federal Law guys!!! You could end up in Levinworth, rooming with "Bubba".

Just a concerned fellow-competitor,

John (Team Lowjiber):lol::lol::lol:

I thought this was a load of bull at first. I was getting a good laugh until a blurb came across on CNN. We have to unite and fight this or it will spread to other states. I am in shock.

I was just over at findmall. There are some really upset people. This is going to get crazy. I am going to find the details and post it as a sticky in the general forum area if it's alright with the Admins.

That is so funny. I saw this on another site and it got people rilled up. You know you can't farm on historic sites build or even play without written permission or a ruling declaring the property free of all historic articles. Ice

Heck, the wording of the new law is so vague that you can't even hunt tot-lots in Tennessee.

John
