Tiny treasures

I have been given permission to hunt a lot in the Old Town section of Amelia Island / Fernandina Florida. This is the original area of a town that may be older than St Augustine.

Armies and navies of 8 different flags occupied this island along with pirates and other peoples and it is a metal detecting paradise. If you can get permissions.

The owner of this lot is beginning construction of his new home and gave me permission to hunt if I split my finds. Since he is a woodworker and tool collector, half of a massive saw, an axe head and a hand forged hammer head, all found on his property has satisfied him. My share so far has been a beautiful eagle button, several musket balls, a scabbard tip, and these items found today.

There is so much metal in the ground so I basically swing until I get an interesting signal then get down with my hand digger and pinpointer and dig and plow and chase whatever the pinpointer picks up. TONS of rusty square headed nails and lots of broken glass have been the norm but I found these today.

A TINY buckle, what I believe are buttons, a musket ball, fishing or seine net weight and possibly percussion caps?

Please fill in the gaps if you can identify anything here. Thanks.

wow, that is an AMAZING 2018 Lincoln cent. How deep was it ?

Dang it Tom.... you beat me to it LOL!

I might not be able to ID much.... but that's a zincoln if I ever saw one...

On a serious note, those are some very cool finds! I love old buttons! Congrats!

That's a great opportunity. I would dig every signal until there was nothing left. Those are nice finds, but I bet there's even better stuff in the ground still. Clean that place out.

I found a button exactly like that one with the four holes. Tiny thing. If I recall correctly it was in the yard of a 1930s house. I can say for sure because I didn't log it. I assumed it was machine made and not anything special or particularly old. I'd gladly be proven wrong.

Oh, also meant to say that I've been to that area a few times long before I got into metal detecting. I can imagine the potential for old goodies in just about any random yard.
