Stimulus Check = New Detector?

I guess I have a different take on all of this.

My wife is on SS and I am still working as I am a programmer and I worked at home anyways. The rest of my office is now working at home as well.
When this came about with the stimulus checks my wife and I decided that we really don't need the money. We decided to See how we could pay it forward to people in need.. but our Motto is "Charity Starts at Home" so we called all of our immediate relatives to see how they are doing. We did Not Mention the Stimulus checks.. Well turns out my Mom who has roommates who are out of work and unsure when they will even get their checks not to mention one of her roommates is stuck in Mexico so, no idea when she or if will be back had to call her landlord for the first time in 10 years to let them know that the Rent will be late..

Well although I haven't received any checks yet I sent her $2400 ( the amount of our stimulus).. I have to say it was a HUGE sigh of relief for my Mom..

So my thoughts are if you are out of work.. SAVE it .. you may need it.. If you are doing good still Pay it forward.. and remember "Charity Starts at Home" !!!

Good for you, SoOregonMd... I did the same thing for by brother, who owns a diner, with just a few employees. His business is down about 80 % or more and can only prepare takeout meals, mostly for his regular customers. He needs to pay rent on both his home and the business, so he’s hurting.

BTW, I drive a 20 year old Acura TL with 250,000 miles on it that I bought new in 2000. Still drives like new so I'll keep driving her until one of us dies. Been married 45 years and she still drives like new also. Maybe a few more squeaks. It doesn't take much to please me.

just a few squeaks?..i would say you are fortunate!

Thinking about buying a lift kit so I can reach harder to access locations for metal detecting! Depends on work. First they were saying o might be getting furloughed and now I’m working extra hours.

dude, glad someone had the stones to say it! i was thinking it for a while, now. feel like maybe most of these cats are well adjusted, or maybe just classier than me, but i'm not above that. all the best!

Man, am I getting old. I have no idea what you just said.

I didn't think much about what I was going to do with mine but today I was informed my contract is going to be ended permanently as sales have fallen and even more so since "the corona" . Fortunately I have no mortgage or debt, only utilities, food, taxes and worse of all health insurance ($10k/yr). I believe I heard self employed people like myself are now going to be eligible for employment security. I hope this is the case as there won't be many open jobs for awhile..

Money is no respector of effort or intelligence..There is no intrinsic safety in having it....no more so than any other item... it's nothing but a tool...

In the right situation, you could sell a Bic lighter and a blue plastic tarp for $1,000,000 of paper money...

The key for Human survival on this inhospitable Planet is acquiring basic skills and knowing how to use them..Giving a tool away to somebody that has no idea how to use it is like giving a Bic lighter to somebody that has no idea how to make or maintain a fire or secure shelter......

Money in an of itself will not save anybody from the storm on the horizon...skills!...a tarp and a lighter and a machete....Winter is indeed coming, take a look outside...in case you havnt noticed, its blowing sleet right now...

Metal Detectorists pay attention, plus, we have the ability and tools to find money and lighters and knives and all sorts of things a guy might need...so thats encouraging...?

I agree. The Government tells us what we can do and not do. This is just the beginning.

Not sure if this is a dependable quote from the internet but....I've read something online that states Originally the stimulus was for working income tax payers. Those on Social Security, SS disability, or supplemental SS will not get the stimulus. But... AARP was fighting to get the folks on SS, SSDI and Supplemental a stimulus also. Ok then the IRS said oh, well if we do give it to those Poor Cheesy turds we are going to make them file a "simple income tax return". But the IRS hasn't explained just what is required on this return, Of coarse some of us are not required to file since our only income is currently from disability. AARP, this online report says, is fighting for these people in the SS and SSDI category to NOT have to file and will just recieve the check. Another words-- I don't know if I'm getting the Stimulus.:?:

Same old beaurocratic red tape, same bs.

Mine showed up as well, now if they would just give me the rest of it back I've paid to them over the years I could retire early.

I do as well. All this feels like a bribe from the admin for some reason. I won't turn it down, but it is slush money to me and the deficit will be terrible after all of this.

I’m on SS and the money is in the account my wife and I used to file our last year’s (2018) taxes from.
Spend/Invest/Save wisely because $2400 is not enough to do much of anything.
IMHO. Stay safe everyone and good luck!

I'll give you TWO Bic lighters and a blue tarp for $1,000,000. It's a steal of a deal Mudpuppy! :)
