Stavr makes a nice scoop...But is it worth the hassle? UPDATE post #37

Can't say anything about Stavr scoops, but I can say that it only took 2 days for me to get my Stealth 720i. The Stealth Scoop folks were great to work with. The scoop is a beast. So far I'm really digging it.

Please don't start a scoop war. I just wanted to share my experience for others to make their own decision with. Thank you.

Much better than any scoop I have used, Stealth included. The Stealth is way over kill for my beaches. The StavR is much better and yes it was worth the wait. Why did you even start this thread if you did not expect a scoop war? Come on CS.

Ruslan Posted This

The guy in the Ukraine is Ruslan. He designed the StavR series of scoops and has a friend who owns a machine shop which makes them as needed. He does not build up a large inventory and his friend makes these scoops during slower periods. If your scoop is custom made or not a popular design it will have to be made when his friend can do it. You can email him and ask delivery time or in stock conditions. I have emailed him several times and always get a reply. The only other scoop out there with this style and digging performance is currently the T-Rex. The Rex is heavier but still a great scoop from reviews and possibly superior in deeper water. I would order another StavR in a heart beat.

I just asked to keep it nice and share what happened to me. If you all want to duke it out, have at it. I have shared my experience, I am done.

Max offered a good alternative without bashing anybody. Nice to share good ideas.

When I ordered mine I went to a WU location but I had to pay cash for my transaction. They said you can not use a credit card for WU. Are you sure you did not pay cash? I had to. I understand he has another payment option now that is cheaper. WU cost me $22.

My mistake was using WU online.. http://www.westernunion.com/Home?rootRedirect=true Ruslin gave nice instruction in his email how to send payment to where he would get it the fastest. On their online site it had a problem taking my credit card, so I went to plan B, an e-check. Now a 3rd party, Telecheck is hassling me saying the check numbers from WU were no good.... Huh!

Lesson learned from you and Max go to the grocery store with cash if you want a Stavr scoop. I am probably one in a thousand, but it happened.

Western Union online was $6.00 total for the scoop delivered $186.00

I got to try a Stavr scoop about a month ago. It definitely sifted better than my Stealth. I thought I would like the 20 degree handle, but I think I prefer a 90 degree handle. It was much lighter than my Stealth as well. I liked the lighter weight. Does Stavr do a 90 degree handle on any of his scoops?

Wow another thread of people who cant read. Chuck probably does not care what scoop you like, who's is better, where you bought it, which one is lighter, what angle you prefer, how fast you got it nor how many rings ya dug with it. What chuck is mentioning is when buying something (not even a scoop) overseas using WU or anything other than cash be careful. Sometimes spending a little more and buying from a trustful source is your best bet!!

god i wish he did

he states the 90* is "to much lever" - i presume he means force pulling back - he will not even do 80* - been begging for almost 2 years now.

There might be too many Chucks. They might be getting mixed up who is who. :p

Chuck

Ya he is a bit confused he probably dont know Canslaw is Chuck as well..lol. Im just saying that its just all about awareness when dealing overseas!

P.S. I cant stand Cheerios.

i tried to order one online and did something wrong. It never went through. My stealth is fine in the water with the weight. In fact i don't even like the handle floating on my scoops due to the big waves we get. Extra weight keeps my fat arse planted on the bottom like a dive belt. But i want something lighter for dry and wet sand. Hopefully someone didn't get ahold of your information. Heck i quit facebook not long after i joined because i started getting weird emails saying someone was trying to hack my account and go to certain place to change my password. Yo won't get me following you on facebook or twitter. My hairs falling out quick enough on its own. Having used cash at western unions several times i've had no problems since even our power and water to pay in person you have to go to a Winn dixie now because they closed all the dam govt offices so they could make more bonus money:laughing:

I did not want to pay cash. Most credit cards offer protection and can charge back if you do not receive the item. I still ordered it and received it close to 30 days later. It was a special order for the angle. One thing I am concerned about though, two months ago my Facebook sent me a warning asking me if I was logging in from another location. Someone in the Ukraine was trying to hack my account. I know Ruslan would not do that but where he was picking up his WU payments from may have a bad apple or his website or email may have been hacked. Another possible is I bought a coin from the Ukraine using PayPal. PayPal uses your email address. So, someone in the Ukraine who knows my email tried to hack me. Bastards, get a damn job.

UPDATE:

Just returned from my bank. The letter I received is from TRS Recovery Service representing Telecheck. https://www.google.com/search?q=trs+recovery+services&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Not highly rated on the internet. The advise from my bank was to call Western Union and deal directly with them, if I can get a hold of anyone there. Use ONLY a fraud protection credit card. The amount was not taken out of my account so there is a problem somewhere, but they also thought 5 months later was very strange. Seems there are a few scams reported against TRS. Also strange that I was not contacted by WU before turning this over to a collection agency. Will there be a mark against my credit report that I now have to go through the hassle of getting that removed? All of this for a scoop?

The advise by others with cash only when dealing with WU with a signed receipt is a very good idea.

All scoop preferences aside... These were indeed factors that led me in the other direction.

Sorry about being confused over which Chuck AFM was referring to. We were talking Stavrs and Stealths and I made a wrong connection. Still, when you start a reply with "Wow another thread of people who cant read" and then reference 75% of the preceding comment, that just seems kinda rude in my book...
