anyone own a gt? since your flying blind so to speak ( no visible id) I was wondering how you determined depth ? Does having the pinpoint on the contoll box present any incovienences to having it on the handle ? and finally why are "s" handles only available in europe? tanx Bob Clark

I don't use a Sovereign, but with most detectors you can get an idea of depth by the strength of the signal. Why do you need to know the depth? If it is a good signal you will be digging it anyway, you will know the depth once you dig it up.

Depth can be determined by volume of signal. Less volume , deeper target generally. The straight shaft is considered a better and more ergonomica way to swing the detector.

I wondered if Minelab were dumping off all the old shafts to Europe as not many like the original Sovereign set up. Still its led to a thriving market in third party straight shafts and its easy to place a mode change button on the top of the handgrip. Makes for a really nice machine.
