Simplex+ USA Waiting Thread.
Yes, a lot of interested Hobbyists,
including yourself becoming new to the sport, as well as a good bunch of Avid Detectorists who have been at it a while and already have one very decent up-scale model or perhaps several useful tools, are all very interested in the Simplex+.
Why? Because it is a newer model entry; it is innovative and in a submersible / waterproof design; comes at a shocking low price; has a well thought-out set of adjustment features and functions.
You could randomly gather up 20 beginners to experienced detector users and have them bring all of the detectors they own and line them all up. Grab the coming Simplex+ and start eliminating all of the models those 20 people have just to compare some of the important adjustable features the "entry-level" Simplex + has to see how many detectors the owners are using that are more adjustable for a variety of hunt site conditions.
For fun, let's just presume those 20 people are going to average out owning just 2 detectors each. That would make 40 detectors in the line-up. The people would tell you that they are each satisfied with being able to find stuff with them so they must be at least a 'good' detector. Great! But, are they versatile enough to take on a wide range of ground mineral challenges?
Let's find out. ...
We know that ground mineralization can be mellow at times, but we also know that many people hunt a wide-range of challenging higher iron mineralized ground so it would be a good idea to start there and find out how many of these 40 detector models offer both
Automated Ground Balance as well as Manual Ground Balance?
The Simplex+ does, so let's just move all those models aside that do not offer any GB control at all
(aka preset or fixed) or are limited to not providing Automated
and manual GB control.
That will trim down the number of those 40 detectors we started with and leave fewer to compare against this new $299 entry new-comer.
If you owned one or all of the models that got brushed aside, you get to sit back and watch the comparisons and discussion, but if you own one or more models still in the active group, you get to continue:
If you still own and use at least one model for comparison, then let's just look at three other adjustment functions to see how your detectors compares with what is offered by the Simplex+. Let's see .... Okay, here are three nomal or more modern detector functions to check for:
Does your detector, that is still in the running, feature these?:
•
Full-Range Discrimination control to accept and/or reject low to high conductivity targets?
•
Adjustable Backlighted Display for hunting at might or in low-light environments.
•
Iron Audio Volume control to limit the loudness of iron range targets.
Now, if you remove all the remaining models that folks are using now and brought to the Simplex+ Party, you will have just a few remaining that offer these three features as well as the Automated and Manual GB option. Just these four adjustable features we are looking at, and we had 20 people with 40 detectors there,
initially, for comparison.
If you are one of the detector operators still in the running and have a model or more that offers these Simplex+ features, then you can ask yourself things like:
"I already have those features, so do I need a Simplex+?"
If you are one of the many who is now standing over on the side with your detector(s) that fall short of what Nokta / Makro is bringing to the table, then you just might want to ask other things, too, like:
"Do I need those features?"
"Do I want those adjustments?"
"I wonder what I have missed, or not done well on, due to tough ground mineral challenges without being able to control the Ground Balance?"
"If they can engineer all that into this smaller, lighter and affordable package, then I wonder what else the Simplex+ offers me that would be to my benefit? Perhaps there's more end-performance than what I would expect?"
I have all of these adjustments on several detectors I own, from the lower-cost Fisher F44 to the Makro Racer 2, Nokta FORS Relic on up to the Nokta / Makro Anfibio Multi. Those I can compare against the Simplex+. All four features I brought up are NOT found on the Nokta CoRe, Tekentics T2+. modified White's IDX Pro or XLT, or my single-tone / non-display Tesoro Bandido II µMAX or Silver Sabre µMAX, or XP
ORX.
As I viewed it, from the very first mention of the proposed Simplex two years ago, this is a newer and fast-growing detector manufacturer, who has provided very well-built and well-engineered devices that have a proven in-the-field track record, so even a new and so-called
"entry-level" priced model just has to be worth checking out!
Every detector I own and use has a purpose for me, they all work well for chosen applications
(or they wouldn't be in my Outfit), and I have my favorites of them all, especially for get-serious Relic Hunting type challenges. But the Simplex+, much improved, feature and function wise, from the initial show-and-tell at a past Detectival, offers a lot for even a very experienced and Avid Detectorist to consider.
That's what interests me about the Simplex+, and there is no doubt this new entry model is going to be
'Just Right' for many people either getting started in this great sport or to any savvy detector operator.
I know I'm excited about it and look forward to taking a Simplex+ on a detector jaunt within the next few weeks as I have both a freshwater and saltwater excursion to put it to test, and will naturally use it for working a couple of bigger grassy parks. I can acknowledge what I see and what I know spec wise, and one I get one in-hand and put it to work, then I can pass judgment ...
personal opinion ... about what the Simplex+ is and how it fits in todays market. I'm sure it will have a 'fit' in my personal detector group, and most likely join my Racer 2 and ?? as a
'Daily Traveler' on the back seat.
No time or need to argue this model with others. We should only consider what we have, what we use, what the Simplex+ is, and then argue only with ourself to see if it's something of interest to us.
