I have a Garrett GTA350 and next to no experience Metal Detecting, anyway we just got back from the sandbar at a local swim hole & my detector was making noise nonstop, even when it wasn't near the ground, needless to say I didn't even find a thing.

Any information on using this detector or links to tutorials would be much appreciated...

Was it a salt water beach? If so, your md is not really made for salt water wet sand beaches. Fresh water on the other hand, it should be able to handle as long as the control box does not get wet. At a salt water beach in order to use the gta 350 you would need to lower the sensitivity quite a bit in order to have any chance of success.

When you say you had it lifted off the ground, how high did you have it. If the coil was pointed straight up in the air and it was still making noise it may not be the beach that is the problem, but instead your md.

Thanks Midknight...

We were on a local fresh water creek about 90 miles inland & yes it would go off at random when I held it up in the air.
