Quest V80

Yes, when their company name was detectrex or something like that. IDK how much of the original company or employees if any are a part of Quest. Since the name change they've seem to have done their own research and development. It's not uncommon for companies to copy others but that time it was blatant and proven. All you have to do is look at Ford for an example but they've probably been copied as well. I believe the straight shaft/pod design was first done by Quest and copied by others. It seems obvious that the Legend and now these are somewhat copies of or at the very least influenced by the Equinox. Patents are important but expire for a reason. The world would be far worse if they didn't.

well since the V80 goes up to 60 KHz in single frequencies but also has 80KHz when in Hyper Q i believe your numbers are totally off as to what it will be running in SMF mode which is the Hyper Q mode from my understanding, the frequencies it will run in the hyper Q mode will at least be something to do with the 80 KHz frequencies and if you look at their promo photos on their site it looks to me like The V80 and V60 will be running 9 different frequencies all at once when Hyper Q mode is active, not sure this is correct but by one of their photos it certainly suggest that, to me, and if this is the case that is going to be quite a feat in my book
I believe the q60 is multi , but only I Fq at a time.

That Quest V80 looks like a very well thought out detector. It looks like the market is now saturated with SMF detectors. There used to be just be Minelab. Now there are plenty of choices out there. The question is where is Garrett? That being said I'm pretty much done buying I think. Equinox 800, Manticore, and Legend. Yeah there is quite a bit of redundancy there I know. It would take a new light weight CTX to even think about another detector. I'm surprised Minelab didn't do it, but I doubt they ever will.

I am not referring to the Q60

I am talking about the new V80 and V60 that Quest is getting ready to come out with both the V80 and V60 are Multi Frequency detectors the V80 runs 5,10,15,20,40, and 60 KHz in single frequency operation and runs a combination of all those frequencies plus 80 KHz in multi frequency operation which Quest is calling Hyper Q

The V60 runs 5,10,15,20 and 40 KHz in single frequency operation and in Multi frequency operation (Hyper Q) runs a combination of all those frequencies plus 60 KHz

That V80 is really Intriguing me a Lot

Mine Lab is to busy bringing out another selectable single frequency detector, The (Xterra Pro) which they said the Equinox would obsolete all single frequency detectors LOL obviously that statement by Mine Lab was not and never will be correct, other wise they would not be bringing out the Xterra Pro LOL and they would have never put the ability to run in SF operation in the Equinox line and the Manticore, That had to be the stupidest statement I ever heard a detector manufacturer make

the fact there are so many choices is fantastic for all of us end users in my opinion competition breeds lower prices, look at the new Garrett Axiom great PI (Pulse Induction) competing against Mine Labs high end gold detectors, and then if Nokta Brings out a PI at an even lower price point, it will be a great day and just maybe bring some of the manufactures down to earth on price, it is fantastic times for all of us as end users to be metal detecting LOL

your right on all points. At one point I was thanking about trading my Kruzer for a Nox 600, But I don't believe I could ever get use to the flute like tones. yes the v60 is multi FQ. I got it wrong.

A year ago bought my nephew a quesr x5.I was impressed with the quality of this starter machine. Now in March they are coming out with a multi freq machine,Quest V80.Google it for a rundown.I will be checking it out
I gave nearly 1k for the v80. I really like the front display for all the information it provides, as I'm in a trashy park with the small blizzard coil that comes with the v80 bundle. This machine competes with the legend, manticore, deus2 with separation with the small coil. I'm going out now with the larger coil now, and I don't anticipate it competing for depth. Great separation but just as the others it can be a hard guess at times for a ferrous/non ferrous. But all and all I'm really satisfied with this machine.

Interesting
Can I ask you how you got a V80 since Quest elected to not release them in the U.S at all and every dealer I checked with over seas stated that Quest informed those dealers to not sell to anyone in the U.S

It's not that hard to acquire one, you have to look around, and not scoff at the price. Do I feel guilty? No, not in the least, Americans sold themselves out a long time ago. I was kind of disappointed in the large coil, but still really love the adjustment lay out,as I was constantly adjusting to get that large coil dialed in. I haven't done a software update, but I may not be able too, Also the warranty will be hard to get, I'm sure. But then again I'll soon be replacing a 3rd. kitchen refrigerator very soon inside of 5 years. It doesn't appear that adjusting TX and reaction make a huge difference. And adjusting sensitivity between 75 and 90 is only improved if you run high TX and fast reaction. Otherwise it doesn't respond to improvement. It's not a deep machine, do not expect more than 8-9" on a undisturbed US dollar I barely hit that at a 51 gb in 7" black dirt. Really pathetic for deep targets.

Well its pretty Dang hard if no dealer outside the U.S is willing to send you one, people on the border of Canada could get one pretty easy, if a dealer in Canada was close enough that they could go over the border and pick one up or knew someone that would bring one from Canada, but getting one sent from a dealer that carries them in another country, that's the hard part
