Potential Civil War Breastplate

I found this suspiciously breastplate shaped piece of brass in Raleigh NC along with a CW bullet.
It does not have the typical design of a breastplate but seems to be the right size and shape. There is a little bit of a design in the middle but its pretty well beat. Any ideas?
I'm thinking it could be a doorknob or lid of some kind.

Door knob would have a bit more beef to it. Or maybe a lid for a breast, you did find 2 right? crazy stuff we dig out of the dirt.
