Found these lovelies. Can someone help me try to determine if they are solid shot or explosive? They are heavy, working on getting rust off. About 2 1/2 inches
WOw, great find. Where are you hunting to find an artifact like this, that may help in identifying them. As far a being explosive, old cannon balls that were explosive had a hole for the wrap they were fired with to ignite after being shot. If you find the hole, bingo. I would throw them in a fire far away from people or buildings and see what happens. But that's just the way I roll ! LoL My bet is that even if they had powder in them it is no longer viable to explode.

Mill balls wouldn't have those flat protrusions especially noticeable on the top of the one to the left. Would love a better look at that, looks similar a CS Bormann fuse. Could be small cannonballs, early grenades, or simply civilian decor doo-dads ?
