One year ago today my Bounty Hunter Tracker IV came in the mail, and I quickly put it together and headed into my back yard. What an all consuming hobby this has become since then. Below are some pics of my finds in my first year detecting... the highlights - over 9,000 clad coins worth about $775, over a dozen silver rings and trinkets, three gold items, 5 silver coins, 2 Indian head pennies, almost 100 wheat pennies, some nifty relics, and more trinkets, tokens, keys, do-dads, and what-nots than I can shake a stick at.
Many times I've seen newbies come on the forum and ask about what detector to buy, and more times than not I've seen the responses that advise against an inexpensive detector like the Tracker IV. All I can say is $775 in one year isn't too bad. Who else can say their detector paid for itself 6 times over in the first year they had it? Especially considering the months I missed due to snow and frozen ground! Certainly buy the best you can afford, but if all you can afford is $100, buy the Tracker IV and don't think twice about it!
I'll be using that clad money to upgrade soon, I'm torn between the DFX and Sovereign GT (leaning toward the latter).
I can't tell you how much this forum has added to the hobby, and the insight and enthusiasm you can find here are truly priceless.
Thanks!
