New Minelab Equinox

If they plan on the Equinox competing with the Deus/AT MAX they sure better have fixed the small gold issue the E-Trac and CTX have or else there is no compitition other than a light wireless E-Trac.

that is the difference between the 600 and 800, 600 doesn't have the extra higher single frequency feature for gold that the 800 has.

Maybe I missed.
Wonder if it has mineralization strength meter or whatever?
I find those handy in my neck of the woods.
Depending on how the detector acts vs mineral levels.

I am on board with you there. Kelly Co is by far the worst out there. Just saying call Kelly Co and see how long the wait on even warranty work on a Minelab is going to be. I will never buy any machine from them. Let alone them service a machine. I am stuck with them as of now as Minelab is using them and have no other means of repair. MINELAB GET YOUR OWN REPAIR CENTER HERE IN THE USA.

This is why I bailed on my Etrac. I didn't buy from Kellyco but had to send it to them on 4 occasions for repair. The machine worked great when it was working but, it was out of my hands more than in. Service is king in this hobby. If there is a huge backlog and wait to get your detector back, it should tell that the detector has a LOT of issues. If Minelab had a direct service center of their own it would change how I feel about them. Garret and Nokta have their stuff together when it comes to service. They bend over for their customers.

If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.....I hate hype,i'm keeping my XP Deus and Aka Sorex pro.....:viking:

This new machine has me intrigued because it is waterproof, which is the criteria of my next detector. Because like my Impact, it can use multiple frequencies on the fly. Good. It has 4 search modes, Impact has 12, Bad. It's coil cable wraps around the shaft, Impact is internal, bad. It has 1 more frequency (40khz) than Impact, good, but, there is no gold flakes here in CT and I seriously doubt that it could even come close to more dedicated machines designed for gold, bad.
It is waterproof to 3 meters, Impact not, Very Good! After I read all the testing from folks next spring that get them will be my deciding factor as to get the ATmax or Equinox only because of waterproof design. Across many other forums it has been stated that this machine is the Minelab response to the Impact. I feel the Impact was put into testers hands years before it was released to the population, which is well documented from multiple testers. Minelab.....ZIP!!!! They claim their own fame with no other input but their own..... I will not be replacing my Impact based on advertising alone and replacing it at all anytime in the near future.....

We only know certain things about detector.

No separation test data revealed.
No depth either, I have read where some say it must be deep, since Safari is as deep as CTX.
Maybe the safari is as deep as CTX in milder ground,,what about ground say medium mineralized??

We don't know the warranty period.
Any possible package deals with coil sizes.
Battery life
Cost of replacement batteries.
Coil cost
Are these units indeed USB updatable by user??

Just multiple freqs and waterproof don't necessarily mean a great detector.
No hype yet really from manufacturer other than this "Referring to making I guess other Vlf detectors obsolete",, I call that marketing mumbo jumbo.

Will be interesting to see if coils are designed like CTX,,making them proprietary.
Hope not.

Would like to know more about ID of targets vs freq used, including multifreq.
And is the multifreq user option, user selected as far as freqs?
And would like to hear iron tone talked about, and see if there is volume adjustment if it has.

I did here noise cancel mentioned, but Indon't think the gent actually showed option on screen.

There will be more questions here than what I have asked.
And maybe in due time most questions will be answered.

I would also like to know, besides the freq options between the 2 models units, what else is different between?
For example depth, etc.

And are the coils interchangeable between the 2 units, even wireless headphones? Batteries?

You totally beat me to the punch with your timing! LOL!!!!

Check post #3, guy has been testing it for 9 months and prefers it to his CTX.

Yeah, but what does this mean exactly.
Maybe the detector does detect deeper nonferrous in pretty bad soil vs CTX, hence he digs.
What about id at depth comparison?
Some folks blow the ID of CTX off anyway.

Weight factor difference?
Swing speed forgiveness difference?

Iron falsing??

I can think of more.

A generic statement really.

Now if gent list types of sites and makes this statement,,might tell me some thing.

Like parks looking for coins, high conductors.
Like old home site.
Like areas rotten with its nails and iron.
Like salt water beach and salt water submerged.
Like mild ground.
Like tilled ground.
Like higher mineral ground,
Like on low conductors medium sized.
Like on low conductors real small.
Like in high EMI environments, like in bigger cities suburban.
Like under high power line towers.

Yeah, but what does this mean exactly.

I'm just saying it's been tested at least by 1 guy, probably others, for awhile now. They sign pretty strict confidentiality agreements prior, so most of that info should come soon since they can talk now. He supposedly tested the real release version and not the demo as in the video with him.

Weight factor 100grams more than deus. App.2.5 lbs
Swing speed-did u see the video? He stated 3 was deus. When he set it to 8 he was swinging as fast as he possibly could and it was still gettings two way signal

Rest I cant help you with but Brandon has always been a straight shooter i. My book so I will take his word until he does something to make me think otherwise. .

Oh yes I realize.

Show me the you tube with one in action.
Some nail tests.
Test garden action for depth.
Start off small and work their way up.

Maybe the manufacturer don't want them to go this route either.
It is up to them.

I prefer my Impact to my CTX for what i do!!! Is my Impact superior? In some ways ya and especially where i detect.

No way they release a machine for 800 dollars that is superior to the CTX which they are making a killing on and will continue to do so. This will be a superior mid level somewhat towards upper end machine that will make XP , Garrett, Nokta,Whites, etc..... have to lower prices even more to keep sales up. Fisher must have had an inside man cause they have already lowered the F75 and T2 SE to half price.

This is a marketing play for market share period!!! Minelab did not grab dominance in the mid to high mid level market with the GO FIND. They have even seen some of their dominance with the FBS machines slip due to xp Deus.

This is a play to grab their market share for the mid/higher level machines.

Will it be a great detector? I am more than sure it will do exactly what it was designed to do and that is grab the mid to lower high level machine market for right now.

Oh don't get me wrong, I have no beef with the gent Brandon.
Level 3 Equinox= what Reactivty setting for Deus?? 5 ??
As far as the fast swing goes.
Well, in defense,,Deus high freq coil over 10" nickel, Reactivty level 2.5, I cannot swing Deus over and not get a signal. Even trying to break rod a swinging so fast. Not practical test IMO,,gee whiz stuff.
Zippy do Da

Didn't see a Deus hanging around the Equinox while it was performing at event via you tube.either.

I will give this detector the credit it deserves.
Definitely.
I look at this whole thing like this.

How did we get wireless headphones a flowing from the manufacturers?
XP might have had some thing to do with this.

What I am saying, when any manufacturer steps up with better unit or starts giving additional capabilities,,this puts pressure on all to follow suit, strive even moreso to make better units.
Who are the winners?

We are!!!

Those were just his words, his opinion. I was just simply stating that some people have been testing them, per the end of Mudwhale's post about only relying on what Minelab says about it. We should see more of these "testers" coming forward soon with their input as well, it hasn't even been 1 day yet. Hopefully some actual test videos as well...

, what kind of issues were you having with your etrac I seem to have pinpoint or button issues sticking on not coming on. Also I have yet to find anything deep with this machine seven inches is about the deepest I pulled targets out
