Man I hate thieves!

Hi Chris, this is LovestheShiny's wife here. I used to work in a pawn shop. Stories like yours make my blood boil. You've gotten some great advice here, such as filing a police report and including the significant physical markings to help identify it, and reporting the serial number to Nox.
I'd like to add just a bit. Some pawn shops won't enter a serial number in their record keeping. It adds traceability to merchandise, and puts their bottom line at risk. If you decide to visit or call pawn shops looking for your Nox, do as as a buyer, not a victim. What I mean by this is that if someone sells a piece of stolen merch to a pawnshop, then someone else tells the shop that they've been robbed of xyz, and asks if the shop has recently gotten in an xyz, if the shop answers honestly, they are out the item and the money they paid for it. As you can imagine, that significantly reduces the incentive to be helpful. Some jurisdictions require pawnshops to hold items 30 days before putting out for sale, so if you walk into a shop, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it is not in the back room, or another location. On the other hand, if you walk in or call as a buyer, they have a lot of incentive to show you what they do have, and may even show you items that are not supposed to be available for sale yet. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.

Thank you! That's great advice. I havent gone to any shops yet because I didn't think it would be available yet anyway. I might have to go shopping! I appreciate it!

Porch Pirates are all over the place now as well. Used to have one of those ring doorbells but it stayed with the old house when I moved. Still have the neighbors app though where they post videos of thieving idiots and whatever. I was literally watch a video that just posted about 10 minutes ago where 2 guys roughly in their 20's or 30's rode past on a bikes, 1 turned around, road right up to the porch, grabbed the package and left. right in the middle of the day as well. He had no clue the guy had a ring and the package out there was a bait package. The owner went out to confront him and he dropped the package in the road and road off.

What is most concerning is that there is no conscience around stealing for these folks. They consider it a victory if they can get away with it. No thoughts for the owner who worked hard for it...……….

check the local pawn shops asap and every few days. You know your machine and serian number. Find on with S/N removed that that is your machine.

They want drug money not your machines. Maybe somebody came out of a store and interrupted them hence only one detector taken.

sorry man, that sucks.

If the shipping companies wanted to stop it they could. With a simple small GPS tracking device in a package that notified them when the package went anywhere away from the home after delivery.

One woman was stealing from charity drop off boxes you see in shopping center parking lots. The charity put a GPS tracker in a stuffed bear and when it left the charity box they got the address of a home. Called police and the woman was arrested. Here home was full of used stuff she was selling on eBay.

so it can be fixed. Just too much trouble for the shipping companies. They get extra shipping fees when customers reorder.

That really wouldn't be a bad idea for bait boxes. I'm sure there would be tons of people with those ring door bells or security cameras who wouldn't mind leaving a trap for them just to get a good shot of them on camera and lead the police right to them.

Sucks man, for sure. I don’t think I’ll ever get over my BMX bike getting stolen from the side of our house when I was like 12. I called 911...

I try and cover my detector with a old war time wool blanket in the back seat, locked car of course. Some people suck!
Some people might go for those army blankets made of real wool!
