Just ordered the Garrett AT-MAX

I have complained about my AT Pro before but I do find good stuff almost everytime I hunt with it. If the reviews are good after the AT Max comes out I might get one and keep the Pro as a backup. I need to send my ATP in for repairs again before the warranty expires but it is still usable so I'm waiting as long as I can. If I can get a Max before then I won't have to waste a month without a detector. I'm not going to order one until I hear some real life reviews though. A lot of the ones out now just sound like advertisements.

I'm sure there are some better waterproof detectors but I think they would be quite a bit more expensive. My only complaint about the ATP is it is a little fragile but I have also heard similar things about more expensive detectors.

I have the ATP ,....volume control and backlight aren't important to me ( nice to have but not really missed if it don't ) , much of the other improvements are really only helpful in certain situations , thus many will find almost completely unnecessary. Except for the claimed depth advantage , which we have to wait and see from real users in the field who aren't trying to sell something. For now , my opinion is that many who already have the pro may be just as happy sticking with it instead of changing to the Max , unless you just have to have a light and volume control. The Max seems to be a smart buy for anyone who was considering upgrading from something else to the Pro.....for not much more money get the Max instead. But as far as being an upgrade from the Pro , we will have to see what the real world reviews say.... Im not super confident that it offers more than just a few frills the Pro don't have. Right now if I was wanting to upgrade to another waterproof machine there really don't seem to be any good choices under $1,000 that I would call a significant improvement......pending real reviews of the Max of course.

Garrett at Max air depth test gold flakes and coins and rings I like it

I like the Garrett at Max. It seems like a great all-around metal detector. It is much better than the Garrett at Pro by far. It picks up extremely small gold flakes lesson 1 gram I posted a video on YouTube of this. Also I checked for gold rings white gold rings silver coins copper coins V nickels. You can see the inches for yourself and judge for yourself. For the price nothing beats this detector and it competes with detectors that are three times the price.
